also no, you're not going crazy, this thread OP and title is intentionally extremely similar to that of topic #44683.
to expand, initially I used "e-six"/'isɪks/ when reading its name, but as time has gone on, I find myself leaning towards the more name-sounding "es-ix"/ˈɛsɪks/ or "ez-ix"/ˈɛzɪks/ to refer to it.

Well you're pretty close to the correct answer, and that is Essex
I've always thought it was e-six (e as in we). es-ix (es as in less) sounds too close to Essex, which is a county name in both England and the US.
Essex.
Es-sex.
