Is a long story. I was involved in some feuds over twentypercentcooler.net in the past, that when I started a new account here (as Mr.Enigma) a mod from here called Princess Celestia kicked me out and said: "I remember you, NoName" (another name that I used to have in the past). "I also remember you admitted that you are 16 years old". The block (of my old account) should be lifted by this October. I was 17 in the moment.

They cut at the molecular level because you exercise force from the scissor blade's metal Ions on the molecules in the ting you want to cut, the determining factor in what you actually cut (the scissors or the other thing) depends on the binding-force between the molecules in the materials, the weaker material will give and break up said bond as soon as enough force is exerted on it.

The reason why this is more often the scissors who destroy said bonds, instead of the fabric destroying the scissors, is thanks to the used material of the scissors (often a metal with a high internal bond), the fact that you cut with the edge and that you have a lever to help exercise quite some force on a very small point.

The reason you'll never cut an atom is simply because the force you need to bring one atom into another atom is much higher than any pair of scissors will ever withstand, not to say that said atom would simply break out of the bond because the binding force is far below the level of energy needed to "cut atoms" and thus will happen first.
