Topic: It's likely been asked before, but can you delete your own posts?

Posted under General

So I have something i'd like to remove, post #272625 not only am I just dissatisfied with it, the person who's characters are involved wishes for it to be taken down as well.

I've lurked all around, and saw that on help:accounts, it told me I would be able to delete my own content. However, I cannot find out how, nor do I wish to make a flag against my own post due to indirect rules about this particular subject.

I know I can submit one, but I have no copyright complaints, nor have I uploaded that to any other websites.

A takedown can only work if you're the owner. If the artist or character owner wants it down, he/she is going to have to create an account and do it themselves

I'm pretty sure that take down form is working even without creating account here.

Yep, if you don't hold a copyright on the image, or one of the characters depicted then you have no way of deleting the post.

I've seen many taken down posts because of reason "Due to author's request".

You're not the author. You're the uploader. Author = artist.

and saw that on help:accounts, it told me I would be able to delete my own content.

And I'm not sure where you're getting that from that page, because it's nowhere in there that you can delete your own posts. You can only have posts taken down if you're the content creator or a character owner, that's it. They never take things down because you're having second-thoughts about uploading it because it's 'unpopular'.

While I was lead admin I would allow a 24-48 hour grace period for uploaders to file a takedown request for their submission after initial upload, cause it made things easier and people simply make mistakes sometimes. After 48 hours though, I'd require a takedown from the artist or character owner.

This post being uploaded for 8 months, yeah, the artist would have to submit a takedown request, which is still the uploader in this case anyways.

You are the artist, you created it, you can file a take down request to have it deleted.
