Topic: Attempting to figure out something

Posted under General

Now that I know that the first 13 posts no longer exist, I am attempting to figure out who "the dog in your guitar" is. Is he/she the one of the first users on e621? This person posts on the first few posts (14-50ish) and the users name can't be clicked on. Just trying to figure out this.

AFAIK there used to be an option for anonymous posting and all anonymous users were named like this.

What Gilda said, those are the anons commenting before they were disabled.

TDIYG is also a name used for lost or deleted accounts.

So accounts can be deleted? Or that is no longer doable? What if somebody uses that name?

Accounts can be deleted in the sense that their records can be removed from the database. But that's a terrible idea and breaks tons of things on the site if it's not carefully plucked out, like removing a brain tumor.

It's not a tumor!

Well, now that's sorted out, why is the 'Send' field of a PM filled with 'The Dog In Your Guitar' when you want to send something to someone?

It probably shouldn't be, but if you're talking about clicking "Compose" in your own mailbox, then the system doesn't know who you're wanting to send a message to, so it just autofills TDIYG.

Clicking "Send Message" while under a user's profile will automatically fill in the user name as expected.
