Topic: Have blacklisted icons show up besides nothing?

Posted under General

I just had a question about blacklist, I remember there was a time where blacklisted images had a icon that said blacklisted on them to hide unwanted images....my question is, is there a way to have them back in some setting or something? because currently it just hides the entire image so you dont even know its there.

Anyone know if there is a setting for this?

Well, the function of the blacklist is to remove images you don't like so I don't think there's way to see blacklisted content until you remove the tag from your blacklist

Try reading the thread before responding.

I know what blacklist is and does, however there was a time where it used to show icons that blocked the image instead of nothing. I wanted to know if there was a setting to swap to that. That is what I was asking about.

I did read it and I'll repeat: "The function of the blacklist is to remove images you don't like". That seems like the best thing for someone who uses the blacklist. And no, there's no setting to see the "icons"

I know what the function of blacklist is, to remove items for view. It used to cover them with icons, I just want a setting that does that again c:

I mean I cant be the only one who blacklists blood for good matyre fap time, without being grossed out, yet has no problem with blood normally :v If the icons hide the blacklisted images I could just poke around new posts of things I normally blacklist but are not searching for.

Are you talking about when people have it as their avatar? Or when it shows up on a search?

Because when someone's using an image you have blacklisted, it does have a plain white placeholder image which says "blacklisted" on it. Assuming of course you have the ticky box checked so that your blacklist is being applied to avatars. If you unchecked it, then it may be showing up as normal.

If you mean in search pages, then no it doesn't use any placeholder icons in place of any thumbnails. But it does have a link show up under the search bar which says "Hidden __[the number of images being hidden which would normally be displaying if not for your blacklist]". And if you click on it, it drops down a menu showing which blacklist entries are involved, and you can easily click to temporarily display any of those blocked images. So it's easy to see both what is being hidden and why, and also to make an exception for, say, tagging reasons or masochistic urges, or whatever floats your boat. And that's true on all browsing/search pages. Functionally it's similar to what you're asking for.

Or maybe you're thinking of pools? Because in pools it uses the placeholder again (just like it does in people's avatars) when something's on your blacklist. So it's possible to see a whole bank of them if you have something like my_little_pony on your blacklist, and the pool is dedicated to that.

But to me, the "hidden __[number of images being hidden]" link on normal pages works even better than the placeholder. Less visual, but it gives more precise information on which blacklist entries you would be encountering if you clicked on it. Sometimes my curiosity is not that strong, depending on the blacklisted term. Using the "hidden__" list though, I can choose which set of hidden images I might want to peek at, while leaving the others safely hidden. I've used it a few times, sounds like what you might be looking for.

If you check your comments when someone replies to you on a image that has a tag you blacklisted, it says blacklist on the icon to cover the image. There was a time where when you looked at the new posted images, that icon would be there to hide the image tags you blacklisted.

Thats what I mean. I just wanted to suggest they bring that back as a feature/option in the settings somewhere :V

or perhaps have "4 images hidden" as a click-able thing to then show the blacklist icons so you can check them out on your own free will :v

You can click on "Hidden [#]" and it will give you a list of the blacklist lines that are blocking images on that page of results. You can then click those tags to temporarily turn off the blacklist for each line of your blacklist.
