Topic: Why should people upload?

Posted under General

When post gets deleted without any reason? Like my latest tiger-paws upload, where it gone?

Updated by Snowy

Go to your profile -> Deleted Posts -> Click the Number.

And I deleted it because it was a really pixelated animation that didn't even loop properly.
Try uploading it in a more finished version and in a better quality and it will stay.

thank you for respond.

i think it has good quality, at least better than other animations that never been deleted.

it's like deleting lineart because it doesn't have colors.

the true is you deleted it because you dont like that stuff, you like my_little_pony, also brony.

best regards

verily, you are onto the admins secrets & secret cabal of finding non-ponies & deleting

yeah, probably wrong site to upload furry stuff

Approved Posts total: 24,743
- MlP Posts Approved: 5,036

As of writing this post, approving roughly 4 times as many non-mlp posts as mlp posts makes me a brony?

and then define what is not a good quality for uploads, i wanna know and i cant find it anywhere on e621.net :/

anyway, you should immediately delete

https://e621.net/post/show/248281/3d-abs-animated-balls-biceps-big_muscles-big_penis

because they are very same quality as that deleted post. to hold a quality uploads, do it asap, thank you

It's in the rules: https://e621.net/wiki/show?title=e621%3Arules

Make an effort to post quality, finished, non-repost images. Avoid crap-quality things like tiny images, grainy images, motivational poster memes, screenshots, image macros, images with absurdly huge and extremely annoying watermarks, etc. Off-topic images and any potential fallout from posting them are subject to the whims of the moderators. In other words, don't post non-furry art if you aren't okay with it being deleted.

If a post looks low quality, there's a high chance that it will get removed, and a low chance of it getting approved. Depending on admin, low quality posts sometimes get approved, and sometimes don't. If your image is deleted for a valid reason by an admin, it's best to move on and forget about it instead of creating drama.

One does not simply approve what they like, it's a job and somebody has to do it (well, not exactly a job), look at his uploads most of ther are not MLP related

Regarding to the thread:

Why should people upload?

When post gets deleted without any reason? Like my latest tiger-paws upload, where it gone?

A post can be deleted for the following reasons:

  • Irrelevant: Low quality, not furry (most are accepted, though), compression artifacts (try red over blue on an image and save it as JPEG) -- there are exceptions, some are cool/awesome and some are funny.

Is DNP (Do Not Post): Artists on the DNP list or paysite content less than 2 years must never be posted.
Fun size: Small images rarely stay.
A better version was uploaded: That, the artist fixed something on the image, better resolution (here applies "the bigger, the better"), a bug was fixed (for games), timing was adjusted (games and animations).

And some more that I may be missing, but these are the top ones.

no, i just asking him nicely to delete it because horrible quality, same as deleted post

i wanted to post every tiger-paws animation i ever found (around 350 files) but since most of them are low quality and there is no rule what is and what is not a good enought quality pic/animation, i can't do it, but that's just me crying now..

I can understand your frustration, and we do not have rules on what is of low quality, as well that it fluctuates from admin to admin, for example, I would have approved post #248286 but not post #248281.

The rule of thumb for us is how things look, so I'll try to explain my reasoning behind my decision(s).

- Models look okay
- Movements look okay
- Clipping is existing but still not horrible

-- would approve

- Krystal model looks horrible
-- Flat model, low res texture, tail stapled on
- Jaguar looks okay, except for the color of the texture Mushroom penis, anybody?
- Animation itself is meh, although the jello balls are amusing
- Background size of an post stamp lazily pasted in

-- wouldn't approve because of the horrible krystal model and that background

- Krystal model looks horrible
-- Flat model, low res texture, tail stapled on
- Jaguar looks okay, except for the color of the texture and that stapled on tail
- Animation is erratic, looks like a frame or two could be missing
- Background lazily pasted in, but at least bigger than that forest thing

-- wouldn't approve because Krystal model, animation and background

So, I do not know if this will help you but I do try to be as objective as possible, even on things I personally dislike.

[detailed analysis]

I actually really appreciate this kind of insight into how you approve things. I like knowing the amount of thought you're putting into it. When the system is based on opinion, it's nice to know so much is going into forming that opinion.

I'm sure the other mods put in a lot of thought and analysis as well. But the current approval process isn't very transparent. So it's hard sometimes to know why this and not that. And (depending on how many assholes you deal with in real life), it can be easy to fill that mystery in with pessimistic suspicions of wrongdoing. I guess that's just human nature to wonder. :/

So anyways, I really just appreciate how you took the time to explain some of what you look at when approving or deleting something. I know it's not universal, but it is nice to know what sorts of things matter. I honestly wish we had some sort of universal checklist of "quality guidelines" or something. I'm sure it would spare some uploaders a lot of headaches wondering about this type of stuff. And prevent the conscientious types from repeatedly trying to upload stuff with deal-breaking quality issues. Just a thought.

I understand your decisions but people still like these posts even with horrible quality because animations in fur fandom is still much fever than normal pictures, so it's more rare and for many of us in some ways better than you cold decide and delete it. And your way how you doing it make me less happy to upload more.

btw.sorry for horrible english

I was thinking more along the lines of Van Gogh's alter-ego.

The more this goes on, the more I wonder if people are actually unfamiliar with the phrase. It's been in use for several hundred years. It basically means 'don't overreact rashly just to spite someone else.' Which is usually pretty sound advice because spiteful overreaction "just to show them" usually hurts your own interests sooner or later.

It predates them by quite a while. It can be traced back to the 12th century, according to the all-knowing Wikipedia.
