I like a handful of 'em, mostly eSix, Hexerade, & Mirage, and I vaguely remember being able to set & lock mascots before... (Mostly just tired of Dylan's arma-dildo poking out in my face, tbh)

Er... what?

Front page mascots.

I vouch for this. I had mine set at a certain one before and now they always seem to cycle.

I must be the only user that likes that armadillo lol

You should put this in the Feature Request thread :)

I will, now; I just remembered being able to do it before and was asking if there was still a way to do it these days.

The armadillo is hideous, in my opinion. Not poorly drawn: Just a hideous character.

TBH? Agreed. >_>; I'm sorry Narse, but your dragons are much better than your armadilloes!

I find it rather cute actually :3

As far as I know it shouldn't automatically cycle. It should keep the one you selected every time you refresh the page until either you click the button to change it, or someone links you to http://e621.net?mascot=<id> to view a specific one. If it is changing on its own, it's a bug and I guess I'll look into it.

Not cycling for me, stays on Hexerade. :3

Well, I have put in a feature request as I was requested to for the ability to determine a selection of mascots it can automatically rotate through at your choosing. I'd like it to scroll through eSix, Hexerade, and Mirage, while skipping the others, myself.

Mine also seems to correctly not cycle, staying on the one I chose.

Ya, mine stays on robo kitty as well

Nah, I like him too

I don't even remember what the mascots look like. I never go to the front page.
but having a rotating between the ones you choose is cool.

Is it connected to cookies? Because if your browsing incognito, or otherwise clearing your cookies on a regular basis, that could be losing the mascot information and causing it to appear like it randomly cycles. I don't know for sure, but it just seems like a possible scenario. It seems like the only time I've had it randomly switch mascots was after clearing browser cookies. Most of the time it stays with whatever I left it as.
But it would be pretty cool to be able to browse through the mascots and preset it to cycle through your favorite mascots.

It would have to be cookies. The only way to have any sort of persistence between browser instances is cookies (or Flash offline data storage, but obviously the front page is not Flash).

It may well have been flash storage, since I was fiddling with my Flash settings, trying to deal with Flash Cookies issues that had affected my computer a few days ago and which actually ended with me uninstalling Firefox and using IE for awhile (And then moving on to Chrome, and still pining for Firefox once again @_@ but the constant crashing is just a nope... ;_;)

It uses cookies. If the cookie is missing (like you cleared them), it'll load a random mascot on the next page load, save that into your cookies, then that same one will load every time until you change it or clear your cookies again (I was wrong, getting linked to a specific mascot with the ?mascot=x doesn't change your setting, it just overrides it for that view).

That would explain why it switches for me since even on my personal laptop I still come here Incognito. I didn't even know there was a feature to lock the mascot till now. That is pretty awesome though!
