Topic: Tag Implication: Hot, Attractive, Sexy, et. al. -> invalid_tag

Posted under General

sorry if i did this wrong, idk how these tag implication topics thingamajigers work. anywho, if this isn't already in place, i feel like this should because they're subjective tags, and people's definition of what "hot", "attractice", "sexy", and other words like that is differs from person to person.

so yeah there's that

Hot has come up before and was kept on the temperature basis (I think)

Nope, it's been aliased to invalid_tag.

I'm all for aliasing these subjective tags to invalid_tag. They're more of an opinion tag, not a TWYS tag.

i guess it'd be aliased then?

Hot is a tag used for temperature....also we tend to use the tag cute....so i dont see why we cant have a sexy tag :V

Hot is no more, it was aliased to invalid_tag about a month ago. Cute is also very subjective, same with sexy, attractive, and all the other uber-objective physical tags.

Attractive definitely needs to be aliased to invalid_tag. Not everyone agrees that the character in the image is attractive

Not to mention amazing

No, I'd keep the amazing tag.

Reason: It's a collection of things people feel are remarkable and/or noteworthy in a way that goes beyond the average.

Basically it's a user-nominated list which acts independent of ratings/score. This is good because score is more about popularity: something most images, like people, never achieve. And higher scored images only continue to get more attention, while the average image gets only a small handful of scores over years. Without some way of user nominating the ones that slip through the cracks, they would stay lost in amongst everything else. The amazing tag is a great complement to our scoring system, and they could benefit each other: the amazing tag being used to catch things that otherwise fall into obscurity and the scoring system continuing to promote things which are already exceedingly popular. And obviously things promoted by the amazing tag could become popular once highlighted, even if they've been on the site for several years now.

It also makes for good and entertaining browsing. It's not about any one person's opinions, but is actually semi-objective about highlighting the noteworthy and remarkable that seem to stand out from the rest. I think we'd lose a site feature by getting rid of it. It may have started out as a subjective tag, but it's become a way to be exposed to things which are noteworthy and/or remarkable but never got popular. It's weird because, it sounds so subjective on its face, but just like whether an image should be rated "safe" or not, most people seem to have a pretty consistent sense of where it belongs and where it doesn't.

Yes. I actually have used the amazing tag to discover clean artists of high quality works when searching for good, safe wallpaper art. Usually, there's only a few or just one upload here for many artists with an "amazing" piece, but I'll follow the source and sometimes find 80 or so good quality pieces, usually on pixiv. I'll be blunt and state that I believe these works are often more impressive than even the good porn on this site, but that's probably an apples to oranges comparison anyway.

Nonetheless, it definitely is a subjective tag and doesn't currently capture a good chunk of what I might tag as amazing. It's still decent for filtering the site's average content from the more awe-inspiring and detailed artwork. Regardless, I wouldn't be opposed to a less subjective tag or some new feature as long as it fulfills a similar function.

Instead of keeping amazing, how about someone puts all the images into a set, and then the tag gets deleted.

That doesn't help with future images.
