Someone has probably already made a topic out of this. A few minutes of searching didn't grant me any hits, however, so I'll just assume this topic idea is fresh again. Here we go!

If you were granted a one-way opportunity to change your shape into that of any anthropomorphic animal/creature/etc, would you take up the offer? What kind of a shape would you take? The change would be irreversible.

Remember: the only thing that'd change would be your appearance: people's attitudes towards unusual looks would still remain the same. Most folks (probably even most members of the furry fandom) would probably look at you funny, with confusion and mayhaps even fear. Your family might not even recognize you after the change. Taking up the offer would probably turn you into an outcast, especially if the form you choose is big or difficult to disguise (i.e., huge wings, claws, etc).

If you want, feel free to discuss how one could live in our society with these new forms.

But to be honest, I'm not sure if I could make the jump and change forms, if I was given plenty of time to think. Living in our society in a form like that would most likely be difficult, if not hellish. How would you visit the bank? How would you do your grocery shopping? How much/what do anthropomorphic red dragons even eat?

If I wasn't given time to think it through, however, I would definitely take up the offer. The mere thought of it is enough to make me excited, so saying "yes" would probably feel like a good idea at first.

Well, in response to your suggestion, a human-sized anthro dragon would require 7-8 meter long wings, so that could prove awkward. Provided you'd want to be able to fly.

Yep. That's why a bird's wings are mostly the size of its body. It's all to do with ratio.

As for me, I would choose a kitsune.

Because, according to Japanese folklore, kitsune had quite the repertoire of supernatural powers, including apparent teleportation. So, I would simply go to the woods and chill out, maybe scare the hell out of a few people once in a while.

I probably wouldn't. Being the only one in the world who's anthro/non-humanoid would get rather lonely. All my fantasies involve a percentage of the population also being assorted anthro/humanoid mixes. And things being established long enough to no longer have that be as big of a deal as it once was.

In a world like that, I'd probably be a bear anthro, maybe some canine traits, so perhaps a hybrid of the two. But without a population of other anthros and some societal framework for a normal life, it would be too lonely and isolated. The luxury of a fur coat just wouldn't be enough to make up for living isolated and always in fear for your life/safety from people wanting to use, study or annihilate that "wild anomaly". That just wouldn't be as much fun as living a normal life with a cool physique/abilities amongst normal humans and other anthros of varying kinds. I admit, it would be tempting though. Just not practical.

Hmm, interesting! At long last a person who would refuse the offer. I was almost positive that no one would take the time to consider the pros and cons of being so different from everyone else. Then again, whether we like it or not, this IS a furry porn site, so perhaps it is only natural that most folks that visit this board wouldn't think twice about something as amazing as changing their shapes into those of their favorite anthropomorphic creatures.

Not to blame these said "folks", of course! As seen in my own response, I would probably make the jump too if I wasn't given enough time to think about what I'm about to do.
