Topic: Two questions about some onsite things.

Posted under General

Uhm, hi, I've been posting here for a bit and I'm finally getting used to all the tagging, even though I still have some mess ups here and there. So I have two questions and they're really simple so I'm sure you guys will make fun of me...haha.
So, first, what do I put my comic in-a set or a pool or something else? I just wanna keep it organized so if someone actually does look at my art they can find my comic all in one place.
Second, I emailed someone about this months ago but how do I add my commission info to my profile? Or more so how do I get my username associated with an artist tag? I really have no idea what to do and I'm pretty sure I never got an email back...
I hope I'm posting this in the right place, I'm still a little new here as far as posting my own art... Sorry if my questions are nooby. ^^|||

Go to "Pools" then click "New", name it, create it.
Post a page of the comic and scroll down to comments, look to the left and you should see "Add to Pool", find your pool name then click "Add". Do that to the other pages you upload in order.

To make your username an artist tag, click "Edit" under the image and type in "art:queenkami" or "artist:queenkami"

Welcome to e6

Woo, I managed to link it. Your commission info is now publicly available on your profile and on your artist-tag page, you already put something in so I don't have to tell how to change it, they are both linked together.

For your other question, a pool for comics or all images that belong together, mostly comics and imagesets, everything else you could sort in sets, we don't have rules what belongs in a set and what doesn't, the only rules for sets are to not make harassing set names and to not spam people with invites.

Other than that, there are no dumb questions and everybody who makes fun of the newbies will get his blacklist forced to only show nezumi scat art.
That was a joke, Peekaboo would only be allowed to look at kittens.

Thank you all so much. I'm really intimidated by site staff until I talk to them once. ^^||
You're all kind-so the sets, are they kinda like inkbunny's multiple upload? I just don't wanna make a mess of anything.

Updated by anonymous

Yeah, just look around i the sets and click a couple things, you can't break anything and if you can't figure something out simply ask here.

We also have https://e621.net/help/sets which should explain most things about sets.

No harm will be done if you make a mess :)
Edit: That sounded really creepy. What I meant was, just give it a try, nothing bad will come of it if you fail.

Lol

Oh thank you for that!
So if I wanted to I could make set for my fursona, who I draw a lot.
I do think I understand this now, pools are things directly connected to one another and sets are things that are just the same!
I do appreciate your help everyone-I was scared to post here-I'm glad to see that you're not all sarcastic rude people like I was scared you'd be. ^^

Updated by anonymous

Oh, we can be that as well, just say so beforehand, anyway, pools are for image sets that belong directly to each other, like comics, sets are whatever you want them to be, you decide what they are in the end, if you wish to use them like a pool you can do so.

I notice a lot of images have kamikitty and queenkami as artist labels- are they both your names, one previous to now? If so, you should be able to apply for an alias from your old artist name to your new one so that a) anyone searching for your old name is redirected to all your stuff, and b) cleaner tags, showcasing only the one artist name, and not causing issues with both names.

If you're two separate people, feel free to disregard.

Both names are mine that I use since Kamikitty was an older name and i can't change my FA name. But all I was really worried about was getting my commission info onto my profile and now that it's there I'm happy. I make sure to tag everything with both usernames-that's not wrong....right.

No, but we can alias the other tag to your current name if you want. It makes things a little easier

And we/you can add to your artist tag profiling a mention that both names are correct, and direct to both sites. That way anyone looking at your images gets only the one artist tag, which looks cleaner (and tag cleanup is one of our constant processes) and there is no silly mixups with people viewing the images thinking two artists worked on them (We have had some ESL people here that have had similar issues with tags before).

Uhm...I see. I don't know how to do that but...maybe someone would show me how? I mean, personally, I don't mind tagging both as an artist but if people don't like it then I can just get it down to one tag and be done.
Also...I'm assuming people on this website are really against sketch works? I've seen a forum post or two about people complaining about sketches.

No, that was just a couple of users. They were complaining about how some "3rd grade sketches" were approved. Your art on the other hand, is far superior than that. I don't think users would mind your sketches like the other ones.

Some people were getting snobby about some sketches that were less than stellar quality (we do get some pretty bad art uploaded at time) that were uploaded. They just blew it all out of proportion, treating it being uploaded to it being approved, for one, and that because it was uploaded at all that it was the end of e6's quality control, for two. >_>; Neither of which is the case. We have... https://e621.net/post/index/1/sketch 156 pages of sketches, so it's not like we don't like them.

But, at the same time, I don't think we're ever going to see, for example, any of Chris-chan's.... hmm... *checks* ....Well I'll be. ._. We do have some of his actual artwork, not just commissioned stuff; at least one piece. Though, I will admit compared to some of the rejected sketches, at least he puts some effort into it and doesn't just draw it on lined paper then take a iPhone snapshot of the drawing in bad resolution... It feels weird praising Chris-Chan. @_@;

Anyways! *cough* >_>;

We do like sketches, we do like art in general. Just at a minimum level of quality. As you can see with Armadax's and Waffles' threads, we're more than open to providing constructive criticism for a new artist, where quality can be lower than you would expect from someone in their full stride as an artist, hobby or no. Waffles has gone through seven (or more, now?) iterations of critiquing images and has gotten better with each successive image he drew, for example- And I'm looking forward to more arts from... him? her? whichever. We're also waiting for a new Armadax image with bated breath (or at least I am) to see the continuing evolution.

[Edit] I feel like a derp; didn't notice your sketch avatar that you uploaded a few hours ago! Left a comment, a fave, and added some tags. That's the sorta sketch that I meant when I said shows some effort that we don't mind/like, btw. Is nice. :3

I don't know who tagged white hair but...I'm changing that. o-o;;
But, I see you refer to it as a sketch ;3; It's really not but I guess whatever you think.
Haha, anyway...I do a lot of sketches in note books, though, they're on lined paper...but they're not like shit-quality, either...Am I still not allowed to upload that?
But thank you for explaining, I've got a lot of sketches that aren't...horrible that I like to upload, just because. :3
Half the time my sketches look better than the final product anyway.

Yeah, it's not REALLY a sketch; I just tend to refer to pencil art as sketches by default, it's a weird thing of mine.

Look through the sketches listings, a page or two in thumbs- you can see that we don't mind sketches, be they actual sketches or pencil art. The lined paper thing was more just the stereotype as well, though some people do complain about it. I'm sure that it should all be fine. (And the white hair one was likely me, since, well, her hair looks white over her eye. >_>; Or is it meant to be grey?)

Well, uhm ,neither, Kami's got black/ashy hair...just with water colors it's kinda hard to get it dark without it being TOO dark and the scanner washes it out even more. xD
A lot of those tags I'd never think of adding, though, so thanks. ^^

Aha. So then it would be grey hair? Could always do a little pre-post editting in a paint-type program just to shade the hair a mite darker, if it's not what you wanted. I think it looks nice, personally. I know what you mean about water colours and scanning, though! I had an old scanner that actually brought things through "too" dark, which was perfect for me (I usually hate bright colours). You're welcome for the tags, but to be fair I looked at the picture, considered whether something might be a tag and how the tag might be phrased, then checked the tag list via the link at the top of the page to see if there was a listing; By no means was I exhaustive or entirely complete in what could be done for tagging. This said, glad I could help, and thank you for the compliment. ^_^ Looking forward to more of your art!

Thank you! Her hair is black...it's just the high light. XD
But I'm glad someone looks forward to seeing more of my art. Thank you for your kindness in answering my questions and all. :3
