Topic: Why can't we downvote Admin comments?

How come we can upvote them all we want but nobody is allowed to downvote them? Doesn't that seem a little... off?

To ensure that important comments like moderator actions aren't downvote spammed. Personally I think it should be worked out so that it's a toggleable function so when they're talking in the aspect of being a moderator it should apply, but when they're commenting their personal feelings it shouldn't, but meh.

Or at least upvote should not a thing either.

But meh as you said. Hardly important

Yeah, either or, and unimportant, yeah.

What should be the case is that downvotes are allowed, they just cant get a ranking below zero, so that they aren't automatically hidden from view on the default user comment settings.

I like the toggle idea, so admins could make regular, downvotable comments and if they're interjecting a fight they can use mod comments for no downvotes

Didn't we already have a thread for this?

was there any admin opinion on the subject? otherwise an existing thread doesn't really matter if no attention was paid to the idea imo

Yes there was

A toggle is doable. Plus it makes it clear when they're speaking officially (or at least it should...probably by highlighting their posts in a unique color or displaying a badge under their name or something). This is really the only forum I frequent that lacks a distinctive mod voice (either in the software, such as reddit's [M] flag and tvtropes' "With Mod Hat On", or in layer 8, such as red text being used by (and possibly reserved for) mods speaking officially).

Tony had an idea in there then, but likely actual important site things happened and it got pushed away/back.

*shrug*
