Anyone else get a 404 error when searching for any tag with the gif tag?
I know animated works too, but I'm just curious as to why gif 404's when searched.

Just add a slash at the end of the url to so that it'll look like thís:
https://e621.net/post/index/1/gif/
and it should work, the 404 happens if you search other extensions like png or jpg too, simply adding a slash fixs it.

Searching for other tags after the extension tag resolves it as well. It's a failing of how the URL gets written, and I'm sure Tony can have the extensions add a slash to the URL automatically come next update or so.

Or just go back to the old format, which imo, is better, and still works

Though the link you use is more an example of my first sentence because you list 'animated' after, but a quick edit down to just "type:gif" shows it does still work.

Uh-huh, since bella was searching for gif, I assumed she would be looking for animated gifs.
I know it still works despite having to add a '/' at the end of the url, I just find the 'url?query' (or whatever that is called) more reliable, but I guess that's, just me.

Er. I was saying that if you removed the +animated you get type:gif which still works. as in, the usual search is just gif, which doesn't unless you do the slash.
