don't look at me

My thoughts as I watch:

Starting out: Worried. I don't have any reason to expect anything good from this, and I have some reasons to expect bad things.

For the rest of my thoughts, keep in mind I don't really consider myself a furry (at least, not to any major extent), but I do consider myself a zoophile. I don't think I've ever heard any one of these sorts of videos address zoophilia (or latent zoophilia) or anything along those lines, and I think completely ignoring that aspect requires bias... So! We'll see how things go.

Up to the eight minute mark: So far so good. Mostly information I've heard before.

At a little past the eight minute mark: we're into the topic of zoophilia. Let's see how he does. Again, I am not hopeful.

And a few seconds in, already pissed off. The "your cat" comment. Goddangit. At least he got off the subject quickly.

As for the misconceptions part, he seems to be ignoring major trends because they don't hold true in call (or even the majority) of cases. It feels like he brushed some of those aspects under the rug, in a sense.

At around the 10:30 mark: Fetishization? I don't think that's necessarily the case here. First of all, animals are inherently sexual. I think a great disservice is done when people treat animals as "fuzzy children". This objection I think extends to anthropomorphic animals. Paraphilia might be more appropriate here, since sexual fetishism generally refers to specific body parts or non-living objects - furries, though fantasy creatures, I don't think qualify as either.

14:45: Good choice of WKAR art there.

AS to the discussion of autism: see, this is how he should have dealt with the other misconceptions too. After all, he mentioned that 17% of furries have some interest in zoophilia, and then dropped that topic. Unless he thinks that matches the percentage in the regular population (which I doubt - though numbers on zoophilia are very hard to pin down, trust me on this, I've studied it).

Still, good job tackling that bit.

Anyway, all in all it more or less matched my expectations. It could have been better, and it could have been worse. I think overall he greatly oversimplified things, but for a 20 minute video that only partially touches on the formation of sexuality, oversimplification is about what you'd expect, I think.

I know that people cosplay, sometimes as characters from whatever and sometimes as animals.

But zoophiles, 'otherkin' and people fucking in the fursuits is news to me.

Fantasies are fun to live out for a bit, and of course roleplaying, but it looks like some people take it a bit too far. As is expected with pretty much every fandom.

Except the video didn't mention otherkin or fursuit sex, so obviously you did know about it already?

You got me. I did more snooping around on google than I wanted to.

....and IRC channels.

I think it explains very well what it wants to. How can people end up as furries. Though the reasons he explained probably don't cover all furries, as there are always some exceptions.
I just wished people could understand how horsecock is important to me
