Topic: Pout versus Pouting

Posted under General

There are currently two separate tags: pout and pouting. I don't think there's any appreciable difference between the two, so how would you all feel about aliasing one to the other?
Example: This is tagged "pouting" and this is tagged "pout".

I would personally suggest aliasing pout to pouting, but I don't know the rules for verb tags.

Usually the infinitive is used (see blush) but in my opinion, the progressive form is better (verb-ing) because it's what is happening on the picture

blush is used because we are not tagging the action of blushing, but rather the visible reddening of the cheeks called a blush. In the case of pouting vs. pout, ie tagging the action instead of the actual facial shape, either or would work, but I'd personally go with the description of what it is, rather than with the action, as with blush.

I think I am going to alias it to pout, if no one objects, although I find 'pouting' to sound more descriptive

Honestly this is one of the cases where I could see it going either way just fine, unless we want to be a stickler that hard for orthographical consistancy- And on this particular point, I'm not seeing any value to that. If you want to do pouting instead, I don't see a problem with it.
