This is all very funny, in a perverted sort of way. I honestly thought that e621 had been hacked. When I first visited after the "joke" went into effect I got a notice of a malfunctioning script. I was never able to track that down, though.

Seeing a site that looks hacked, with an invitation to click something that shouldn't be there, is an invitation to disaster. Some people will do this. Some people won't, especially if they have scripts enabled for that website.

As time went on and I kept checking back, and nobody had done a thing about the problem, I concluded on my own that this was a hoax by the site administration, since I couldn't imagine them leaving a malware-infested site up and running.

I never did click on that message box, though. On my computer the text was interspersed with gibberish (non-english symbols, etc.), so it looked broken to me. I guess I missed out on the "fun".
