That idiocy, to me, are comments that prove to be illiterate, off-topic of the actual picture, rudeness to a previous comments, or double posts.

I frequently downvote comments that say bad tagging is ok, so you're very much wrong.

Downvoting also happens if you don't have anything but a positive opinion in pictures of any of the major fandoms here (pokemon, ponies, etc).

For the forum I agree, but it actually doesn't bother me when people get lewd in the comments section. Lewdness is what we're all about. It's stupidity I don't like.

I can dig this. I've seen plenty of overly-detailed comments and spastic mini-RPs, but sly puns and a bit of lewd ribbing always make me smile.

though there are those on here who use alts to spam dVote comments, happened to me a few times.

one time I commented on another user asking why the image was tagged gay. the image in question was of three guys having a three way, guy in the middle had long hair though and looked like a chick, but didn't have tits, or cunt, just cock and balls, he was sucking one of the others off.

I quote the guy asking the question and post,
"Oh yeah, because sucking dick totally aint gay, huh? lol" and it got downvoted to hell.
other times I make an observation about the tags, its 'correct' and it, again, gets spam attacked.
other times I try to make people laugh and apparently people hate to laugh or people being silly cuz my last joke on the site must be at -23 by now.... >:(

I have one comment that has -8 because I think nobody gets oldschool game references (where you had to press 'Select' to move some cursors - like in NES games)

I downvote when people are either backseating, making retarded comments, insulting another user or being creepy.

They serve a purpose. Only thing I hate is mod/admin (I forgot which, might be both) comments can't be downvoted. That's bullshit.

It highlights the forum post you were linked to using #p12345 or whatever in the URL. Editing a forum post links you back to it, hence the highlight.

yet it for a reason, so the bad users cant do what they do with users who like me fix stuff and comment to let people know why it was changed. these bad users will make alt accounts to spamdecrap out of admin comments if they could do that.

You're just a member though. And while I get it's for putting an important, informational message out there, there are also many admin/mod comments that are opinions or just otherwise simple comments on an image. They should be able to be downvoted.

There should be a thing where messages can be marked as important or whatever and not allow voting at all on them. Not everything they say is sacred lol
