Topic: Opinions on gun control?

Posted under Off Topic

This topic has been locked.

Anon mentioned republicans in my last thread and it gave me a stupid idea. Ask the E621 community what they think of gun control. (Being allowed or not being allowed to have guns, banning types of guns and ect) I'll post my own view in a bit but I wana see some people reply first.

Edit: Opinions should stick toward America as they have the biggest gun problem on the planet.

Oh lord you actually did it. And I don't know why I doubted you would. Inb4 drama lock.

Edit: I would think Mexico has a bigger gun problem. At least we don't have all out street wars.

It's not the problem with the guns, it's with who has them

That does not make any sense.

Every time I find drama on the internet I never see anyone before hand saying there will be drama. However if no one mentions it, typically you get drama.

I'm from Canada, and I'm working towards getting my PAL and all that safety stuff, and then...I guess I'll have my PAL. Guns are totally not as omnipresent here as they're portrayed in the States, but I think it's fun to get a shot on target and fulfill that primal instict.

I think we do pretty good here. You can't even handle a gun without the proper license where I live.

Everyone SHUT UP! We're bracing too hard and talking too much about impending drama to let the drama actually come! Rofl.

Personally; I see no real need for full autos in any case, but semi autos should be sellable to those who pass a background and psychological exam. As well as a brief written exam, like you get before being entrusted with a 5,000 lb 50mph steel weapon called a car.

My grandpa has I think 6 shotguns? All old models he used to use for actual hunting where he would eat what he got, but he doesn't use them anymore. I have however used his .22 and his 30 cal, which is a strange thing because the 22 has less recoil then my airsoft gun but the 30 gives you a good jolt. I broke off half a trunk when test shooting it once.

I don't want people to be defenseless cause personally I think people SHOULD go through a mental background check to make sure no lunatic gets one to shoot up a school like Newtown Connecticut but there could be people who might be attacked and it may be a last resort as self-defense my opinon is that we should tighly regulate gun purchases so people with clinical sosiopathicnes, depresson, or any mental illnesses that cause agrreson towards others can't purchase a gun and everyone who trys to purchase a gun MUST sudmit to a mental backround check as well as provide valid ID and proof of valid insurance

I have a .22 pistol.
It made me kill a bunch of people.
We should probably have more gun control.

In regards to self defense:

Out of all the presidents of the united states, 10 have been shot or killed. 1 had a grenade thrown at him but that's besides the point.

For those who think crimes can be prevented by carrying a gun let me remind you that 10 presidents of the united states were shot or killed whal surrounded by the best trained armed guards in America.

Guns DO make shit escalate far too quickly. But they do have their uses. Night clerk getting held up by a knife wielding crack head whips out a 12 ga... Yeah rofl. Besides, this is amurikuh! We ain't no pansy tea drinking yuppies! You'll pry these guns outta out col' dead hayunds!

.22 doesn't have a lot of propellant(especially .22 Short). The .30 probably had a longer necked cartridge, and thus more bang. Blastin' stumps would be hella fun.
I don't really like seeing people get hurt, but at the same time I always smile when I watch a store clerk get instant justice in some Youtube video when he/she pulls out a firearm and chases a robber out of their store. I guess my stance is rather neutral.

I do think we have bullshit self-defense laws in Canuckestan though.

Secondary idea of course is to be decent people. But that's never going to happen...

I have a few .22 rifles and a lifetime supply of ammo, and I plan on getting a sidearm later on, probably a .45. I'm not crazy about full auto, but that's just me. It was however, fun popping off a bunch of caps in a semi-auto 12-round 22 at a clay target and watching it dance. Largest caliber I've fired so far is .308. Gives your shoulder a good thump, even for a bigger guy like me.

I don't know, myself I find the craftsmanship and design of guns to be incredibly interesting. I would love to try out things like a tar-21 or a modern enfield. But I live in Canada where that is banned so unfortunately I have to live with just my airsoft stuff. I'm not going to lie and say I'd have a gun for protection because I would have it for fun. But I don't need it, so I'm fine with my airsoft.

(Airsoft loadout is a semi-auto full metal handgun with 500fps minimum shooting ceramic BB's, I have a TR-16. (basically a M4A1) with full metal buildup and nylon appearances. Shooting at a minimum 390 fps at full auto 450 semi auto ceramic BB's) <-- Just in case anyone was curious.

Actually, approx. 70% of westerners don't care about gay marriage any more.
The only people who still are making a big deal out of it are the people against it.

The sad thing is, if people truly followed Christianity they wouldn't try to stop gay marriage.
Jesus taught to love the sinner, and being negative and hateful toward gays is not being loving.
Hatred is never Christian regardless of what the Republicans try to use it as an excuse for.

Millions of people work on the Sabbath, is it alright to kill them myself or should I call the police?

Touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean, if football players promise to use gloves can they still play?

Does the whole town really need to gather together to stone a farmer for planting two types of crops side by side.

Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing clothes made of 2 different cloths?

Everything needs limits.

That's just it, most of that is old testament.
The new testament, the teachings of Jesus, and foundation of the entire religion are intended to replace the teachings of the old testament.
When one contradicts the teachings of the other, the new testament teaching is supposed to be the one followed.
And all the "hate the gays" stuff is in the old.
There's some "being gay is a sin" stuff still in the new, but it's just that, it's a sin, but you should love the sinner and help them live a life as good as they can(see recent statements by the Pope).

Guns lead to religion, it's true. Someone who got an online doctorate said so.

Guns are lazy.

All you need to kill someone is a steady hand; they're overpowered.

Don't even need a steady hand if you don't care what person you kill.

I mean a steady hand to actually aim it rather than smacking yourself in the face from recoil.

The recoil of a .22 is nothing.
An 8 year old could fire one safely.

And yes, a .22 definitely will kill you.

K.

All the same, I'd choose a sword over a gun any day, even if it is just decorative.

guns? good just don't carry them around unless you have a very good reason

I don't understand the attraction with guns, and I don't trust the average person enough to responsibly and intelligently wield power in many other forms to make an exception for commonplace gun ownership. So I guess my reaction is the opposite of a classic race to arms. Still, it's weird. My former boss offered to take me on an outing to see his gunnery sergeant friend (or some similar position) and try firing some "highly tuned, $5000 sniper rifles." Or something. I would have done that to relieve myself of some ignorance and for the experience, but here I am.
