Topic: Revert Recent Changes

Posted under General

I'm just wondering if there are any plans to revert e621 back to the way it was one version before all the drama and the shutdown. A lot changed, and none of it for the better, really, with the account restrictions being the worst part of it.

The best part of e621 has always been (in my mind at least) the kind of carefree and simple design. It wasn't overloaded with stupid rules and mods (like Fchan) and not overblown with slow features and galleries, journals, and artist drama like FA. It was kind of like a much more organized version of Paws -- a relatively lightweight and simple community, but with an epic tagging database.

I don't know what version it was exactly, but CURRENT_VERSION - 1 is probably it :)

Really? I quite like the new e621.

I don't see a whole lot of difference, truth told in the features or design and this one seems no more carefree then the previous.

This one offers a lot of utility and flexibility--all features I appreciate considerably.

I think the worst thing about this change over is it's timing. We had only just changed to the new e621, when it was brought down... I wonder if some people might be projecting the dislike of THAT onto the physical changes of the site? (it's not unreasonable: it only takes getting thrown off of a horse once to make someone wary and afraid.)

This thread might get better attention if you were to mention more specifically what you like, what you dislike, and what you miss. :)

Well... What I miss: voting pics up or down, would rather vote them than comments. Pages 1-XXXX on the comments page, personally if I'm bored enough I go through a lot of pages. Commenting restrictions which I guess is both a good and bad thing. There are some good things on the new one, but those are my biggest pet peeves.

Image voting was changed to stop downvote bombs on images that may have been good but the community disliked for some petty reason.

There have ALWAYS been commenting rules, they just weren't as visible.

And there has ALWAYS been an image takedown policy, it just wasn't articulated as clearly.

From what I understand, the way the site looks right now is a "placeholder" until the administration can get it looking perfect.

I'mma have to agree with null0100. :) I like the lack of image voting.... and greatly appreciate the ability to vote up/down replies :D (though I'd love to see the score on comments that have been up/down voted..)

Yeah, I agree. I'd rather see a big 'ole -35 next to a stupid comment than not being able to see it at all.
