Topic: About Deletions

Posted under General

I noticed that all deleted posts aren't double deleted anymore, so we can still search status:deleted and look up old pics that were deleted, even ones deleted for DNP reasons like status:deleted sexyfur. was this intentional?
EDIT: And I also noticed that Privileged users can't give records any more, and my subscriptions stopped working.

well, you only get the thumbnail. also, after the 2 year thing has passed, a post that was deleted should be restored.

ex. sexy fur pic that was submitted two years ago, should be restored.

this was just a thought. as soon as an admin says no, i'll drop it.

Actually, you can click on the image link in the side bar and get to the original image. I happened to notice this happen on Gelbooru too the other day.

EDIT: Found some deleted images I've wanted, but really shows what a big flaw it is. Either this is to be kept quiet and hush-hush, or it should be fixed. Of course, the fact that 'old' images can be recovered implies they were never deleted in the first place... Though perhaps that's the reason behind the extreme nuking deletion method that removes *everything*. Hm..

You're not supposed to be able the view the deleted images, but the thumbnails have always stayed. We're looking into it...

I don't remember the thumbnails being viewable either. It was always just that colorful painting over and over again.

Anyhow, I got all the deleted pics I needed. :3

What about things that fall under the 2-year rule, like Gay Failor's art. If it's under 2 years old, it gets the hammer, but after those 2 years are up, do we post it again, or just request that they be re-instated?

Why did you have to say that now they'll patch it

I noticed that too, when I was browsing through the images I uploaded. I found an image I made, that was deleted from e621, and I have lost it on my computer as well. I just clicked the "image size" link, and BAM! there it is again.

Oh well, fun until someone lets the cat out of the box...

Well, you can view the thumbnails. but when you click the image, it says that it's been deleted and no picture is present. You can still view the actual picture in the server by clicking on the picture size link on the left.

Can someone explain these changes?

Privileged members lost the ability to give records due to mellis feeling that some of them were too iffy about the records they gave. That and donators were gonna become privileged members. Subscriptions changed entirely... you'd have to go through your userpanel to fix them.

I've deleted my subscriptions and re-added them, and it still doesn't work.

It just appears in two. When I log in, I have to type Ultima_Weapon. Do I need to request a name change?

The "deleted:true" function (now "status:deleted") was a useful way to determine why our posts were removed, and useful for retrieving the Statistics→Source metadata of deleted images. Now I just get an "Error: You cannot search for deleted images" prompt. Is there a reason for having to completely remove the function?

Short answer: It's a quick and dirty fix in response to the bug originally mentioned by the OP. It will eventually be fixed.
