Topic: A friendly reminder! (IE: play nice...)

Posted under General

I've been receiving reports of harassment and trolling at users expense here and there lately and thought I should take a moment to remind everybody that this is generally (as in always) frowned upon by the management staff.

So let it be known again that harassment and trolling of any user on e621 is not tolerated and will be met with appropriate action against the instigators. Please be advised.

Play nice kids. :-)

I would also like to add to this that if you do believe a user is breaking a site rule or is just causing problems in general somehow, you should bring it to the attention of a moderator or administrator, rather than just taking it out on the user himself/herself.

We're not asking nor expecting everyone to get along and like each other, but it shouldn't be that hard to not be total dicks to each other either. Disagreements and debates are fine; outright trolling, not so much.

Can it be shark week yet? Please? Can it be shark week?

Yeah; Shark Week would be nice and all, but I was thinking more on the lines of a 'Year of the Shark' sort of deal. Where it would be 'Shark Week' all the time.
Comments and posts are getting more outrageous each day. and I feel something needs to be done about them.

When mellis was around, Shark Week would last until the idiocy stopped. It was awesome.

...and yes, it meant that Shark Week could last for months.

Also: I don't care what the fuck they did on this site, or to that user. You have no right to troll a user when they are behaving fully. You WILL be banned.

Yes I know.
What I'm saying is, I think we need to bring it back. at least till people start to behave again.

what exactly do we need the rest for?

We don't. I was merely stating that by Skeeter saying "until people start behaving" he was implying that the people acting badly were going to change their ways, which is most likely not the case.

Does calling someone an idiot when thay have shown themselves to be one constitutes as harrasment? Not continuos stream of unsults but a single undirected remark about someones lack of brain matter?

Depends on the context. If it's directed as a way to egg someone on, or just following the crowd, you might get it. Or just saying the word idiot, without adding any more context. There is already too much fighting in the comments..
