Hey all,

I'd like to apologise for the downtime we experienced again last night - the web server that hosts e621 crashed without warning, taking out a backup job in progress as well as the site itself (I'm re-running the backup job now so everything's up to date).

It really sucks when the site's down for an extended period of time - even worse when I could've fixed it but didn't know about it. My notifications for site downtime were not correctly set up (it was sending texts to the wrong cellphone number), so I've gone ahead and modified the number it hassles constantly in the event of downtime.

This should help ensure that I get notified when the site goes down in future.

Thanks everyone for your patience - it's my intention to ensure e621 has an excellent uptime record, however due to technical transitions (god, I hate Debian) that have taken place in the last few months there's a lot of 'moving parts' to worry about.

You and the new crew have been doing a bang-up job here, ever since you all took over; a lot of us are thankful for that. I'm pretty sure we can handle a few downtimes every once in a while.

the downtimes aren't a big trouble, cause it never takes really long

FA goes down more than a nyphomaniac vixen.

Anyway...no worries about the downtime, it happens. I am sure there was a good reason for the crash..maybe an overload or something..IDK. But at least you resolved the issue, thats what counts

Downtime happens, no worries. Especially since you guys usually either get things fixed fast or put up a information for all of us coming here as to what's happening and when things should be up again, most places lack when it comes to things like that. This is a very well run site.

actually I haven't seen FA down lately. I'd say the two sites are about equal in down time. But what do I know? I only use each daily!

Seriously, this site is my number 1 provider for fapping. Every minute it is down, I shall destroy a puppy.

FA has a baaaad habit of going down months at a time.

A little downtime is okay. though, I'm wondering why some of the site -did- work during the downtime, though most of it didn't...At first I thought it was just my interwebs being dumb again! ^^;

Yeah, FA has the record of being down -every- time I've seeked to use it for fapping material....its bad. Real bad.

I dislike you as you dislike me, but I agree. This place is pretty good for comedy, fapping, and political arguments. And I would weigh my opinion on the new 'crew', but... I would get banned. :v

i don't think anyone has gotten banned for simply giving their opinion, not even with the old crew. it's how you say it that you got to worry about.

Bad luck? Seriously, it hasn't been down for "months" in a while. I log in daily, so yeah...

I do remember that isolated incident where it was down for a while, then the forums were down. Some sort of security hole or something...
