Topic: Dear Skeeter

Posted under General

There is nothing personal going on here, I don't know you, but check this out:

These are a doodles too.

Considering you deleted post #117721, why not delete post #117716 too?

This one is only lines and is a very loose doodle, no shading at all: post #117360

What about this: post #117172? You can't pass it as a sketch, and the quality's pretty low.

Few more examples:
These easily qualify as doodles.

Could you not delete stuff because You think it's not of good quality or it's a doodle, please? I have nothing against a new moderator, but please be sensible - you got a mod's position because you can do the job right, not because of your taste.

Welcome aboard, I hope you will do a good job. I also hope you appreciate the time I spent conducting this post.

you know that you can send skeeter a message, straight from his profile? its not that we all don't care, it just creates less drama in my opinion.

Skeet's only been on the job two days... Please be aware that there is a learning curve and a balance between personal discretion and generally acceptable submissions.

Appreciate the feedback. We can use this as a learning experience :-)

Lots and lots of learning curves.

I'm not doing this from a bad heart, really, just something that was good got deleted for personal quality reasons.

We all live and learn. I should've conducted the original post made more of bad quality examples, rather than doodles/sketches..

I recognize there's a bit of a dilemma here and I'm hoping you'll all bare through it with me.

It's a bit of a story but I'll cut it short, for time and confidentiality reasons.
Basically I was told about the post approval guidelines from two different sources. One told me what to do and how to do it, being sure not to only approve things to my own liking or personal tastes. The other practically said I was wrong in some areas, providing reasons and examples and touching on key points such as submission quality. Some of the posts were good to be approved and others, that I had previously approved, were not good and need to be deleted. They then later told me to revise my approvals from the past couple of days. I did so and deleted anything I felt was not of at least good quality, referencing form the overview I was given.

I apologize if I made any of you angry and I'll work to revise the past submissions I've approved/deleted and hopefully we can get this all worked out.
We're not all perfect and please don't be angry with me. I love feedback and I'm determined to get this right.

Ps. I would like for you, or anyone, to contact me privately next time if you have any more questions or concerns about my current or previous performance. Feel free, I love feedback.

Thanks,

Skeeter

Well, this has been concluded.

People obviously confused you with two different principles of moderation, but I'd say try finding your own good spot. I mean, you can easily tell which piece of work looks really crap and which actually shows some knowledge of drawing/painting and possesses aesthetic looks, rather than the ones in the given extra examples which are flat and don't look good at all.

Anyways.. Keep practicing; if anything, consult with experienced mods before approving/deleting an image. Or, hell, even drop me a message, I come here regularly and I am an experienced artist.

Thank you for understanding.

If you or anyone feels I've been unjust or unfair with my submission approval/disapproval rate, please drop me a line via email or private message. It helps me gain extra knowledge that may or may not be needed and will help me in the future.

Thank you,

Skeeter
