Because people are stupid.

For people that don't speak English? :x I'm sure they appreciate translations from English just as much as we appreciate translations from Japanese.

On an English website, they should be able to understand English. Would you put English translations on posts in pixiv?
Besides, a German who can't understand the text in the pic linked above probably has not left elementary school yet.

Ditto. This is an English site, translations should be limited to English if available. But there's no reason to remove non-English translations until someone actually comes along and decides to translate it to English.

No, this is an art site. There's a difference.
Personally, I'd be happy as a clam if every 'translation' note said:
Google Translate says:
No! Not there! that.. that's dirty!
いいえ!ないの!そ... それが汚れている!
Nein! Nicht da! dass ... Das ist schmutzig!
Hindi! Hindi doon! na ... Iyan na ang madumi!
لا! ليست هناك! أن... هذا القذرة!
¡No! No existe! que ... Eso es sucio!

Because every word on the main area of the site is in japanese, russian, spanish, etc., right? If you want e621 to be multilingual, then go ahead and work your ass off learning a bunch of languages or paying for translators. Until then, it's an English site, and no amount of saying "you're wrong" is going to change that.

I offer translations where I can.
all I'm saying is that google translate can hit the main parts of the page well enough--there is no text saying "this site is for english speak peoples only'... and if people who CAN so wish to translate every image, that I welcome it.
In the mean time, I do what I can, when I can, where I can.

This is an English site, however if someone decides to fluently translate something to another language, more power to them. It doesn't hurt anything. so stop hating on them. and fap. At least you don't have to hover text to read it. Why mess with something that doesn't effect you?
