Topic: Barbados?

Posted under General

So...the site rules clearly say "Don't be Barbados." That's also a reason on many of the bans in the ban list (thanks, Epic Ban topic!) but...after doing some searching of the Forum, the Wiki, etc...I find no definition of it. I mean, I like this site and I'd like to think I can avoid being one by just generally not being a fuck-off, but I'd rather not risk it.

How does one "be Barbados?"

Wait. Is it where you graphically detail what you'd like to do with the characters in the comments?

Yes.

I think Barbados might be a user who did some bad stuff, or it could be talking about the movie barbados from pirates of the Caribbean; who was a thieving prick.

{Edit} Blazekin sniped me. Ignore this post.

You are correct.

Basically a creepy, creepy, creepy, person in the comments that's obviously noticeable by anyone who looks at it. Whether it be funny or perverted, it is not permitted.

then keep in mind that this guy made about a dozen or two other accounts.. and did the same thing.

Edited because I fail at refreshing before I post.

Over time Barbados broke more rules than just being creepy. WAY MORE.

He's the quintessential "bad user" of e621.

When I was administrating agnph.com, this guy basically threatened the lives of me and the rest of the AGNPH administration. Not that I took him seriously in the slightest.

It was quite amusing when he first e-mailed me asking for help on e621, not realizing that I was the same guy he threatened over on agnph.com just a few months prior.

Barbados is a pretty cool guy... eh makes creepy comments (anally) and doesn't afraid of admins (vaginal style).

Bring the eye bleach for when you are done.

Hell. I swear I tried to search for him before, but oh well. That's just...what's with the (vaginal) clarifications? Nevermind. I don't really want an explanation (anally or otherwise). Weird.

I was gonna suggest clearing up "being Barbados" in a Wiki or something, but there's already a rule against being a creepy creepster, and hopefully no one else is quite as awful as he, anyway.

P.S. Yes...eye-bleach. Sadly it cannot be unseen.

So then how do you become NOT Barbados? Is there just some sort of time limit? Or do you have to do something specific.

Don't be dropped on your head as a child for fun, don't be sexually repressed for 40 years, don't sniff paint thinner. There are a number of preventative measures to avoid being like Barbados. The most pertinent way would be to not be creepy in the comments.

wow i just read every one of his comments, that guy is one creepy fuck, i think im scared for life, now if you will excuse me i've got to go bleach my eyes

Updated by anonymous

Barbadosing every once in a while for lulz is okay
but don't do it too often or you get banned okay

Well yeah, I get THAT. But if new accounts aren't able to do anything because they don't want them to "be barbados".... How do can you prove you AREN'T?

This isn't about proving you're not Barbados. It's about not posting too many comments like theirs so we don't mistake you for them.

What? Oh no. I can post all I want. I've had this account since... 2009?

Well see, I was wondering about this because new accounts can't upload or post comments under this "Don't be Barbados" rule. So why bother ALLOWING new accounts to be made if you can't do anything with them? I'm asking if there's a way to become exempt from the rule and go on to being a "normal" user... by which I mean being able to post/comment.

I'm referring to this ^ thread-- which is answered by this one.

A certain amount of time has to pass before a new user can comment. I forget how long. It has nothing to do with Barbados. Don't be barbados pretty much just translates to don't be creepy. If you break the don't be barbados rule, all it will probably amount to is a warning, a negative mark on your record or a temporary ban if you're really bad. The commenting restriction for new users is just to prevent trolling, spam, etc.

Uh-huh. Sounds like something they should probably say up-front instead of letting everyone figure it out on their own... Might just be me being a nagging bitch though.

If you're referring to the "don't be creepy" rule, they do.

Refer to rule 12.

Or if you're referring to the comment restriction...
