Topic: Error: hourly limit exceeded?

Posted under General

4 comments maximum per hour. They seem to replenish at the rate of 1/15 minutes, though. Blame Barbados.

New users can't comment for a while (7 days?) after registering, thanks to some spammers.

That's 4 comments that bump posts on the comments page. I think you get an unlimited number of non-bumping comments (we really need to write all this shit down. The current wiki article is completely wrong.)

Nope,I was informed by Aurali, I think it was? that it's a strict 4 posts per hour because of Barbados. I'll send you the PM if you want? I still ahve the 4 posts/hour limitation regardless of it being a bump post or not, and that's why I asked.

yeah. this is a similar issue for me, except im posting comments without bumping. and the comments just plain old stopped showing up. anyone care to explain? not bumping with comments is supposed to bypass the limiter, isnt it?

What they mean is that the 7-day no-post is part of the site, it's a restriction placed on new accounts rather than it just being a bug that happened because of spammers. New users just aren't allowed to post for a few days to help make sure they read the rules and now how shit goes before firing off and getting themselves banned. Does that clarify?
