Topic: Suggestion: disallow "image gallery" flashes.

Posted under General

1) Defeats the purpose of an image archival website.
2) Often random images of various artists with no clear theme
3) Often random kinks, making tagging tedious.
4) Sometimes includes art from DNP sources
5) Defeats the purpose of an image archival website.

Definition of an "image gallery" flash:
1) No artist credited. (artist signature on pics alone doesn't count)
2) No clear theme (not same artist and/or not same theme and/or not same kink)
3) Core function of the flash is only to display images sequentially.

Possible considerations:
1) Rather than core function, also disallow flash which displays images solely as a reward to an objective, yet still has no clear theme (not same artist and/or not same theme and/or not same kink)

this sounds pretty reasonable... are these gathered under any one particular tag or another so we can have a look? or is this going to be a task of ferreting out a bunch of flash out of the rest?

That's my question too, I've never seen one of these. But it seems reasonable to get rid of them.

Yes, flash galleries like Princess_Celestia linked to definitely need to not be allowed.

At the moment I'm saying an exception could possibly be made for flash galleries that contain only a single comic in chronological order, but that having the pages of the comic as separate posts on the site would always be preferred. The only exception to this I can think of is if the flash adds some sort of original content itself, like sounds, dialog, etc. (NOT just background music)

That's reasonable.

But yeah, that one really needs to go away, I actually found it extremely frustrating. I saw a number of pictures where I thought to myself "Oh hey, I really like that one, I hadn't seen it before. Let me just add that to my favori...oh right, I can't. Well, I'll just search for her later, let's see what the tags a...oh right. Those are for all of these."

Edit: OK, REALLY frustrating. I searched for a number of the pictures based on what I saw in them and turned up nothin. So either they're not tagged properly, they're not on the site, or they've been deleted. If they've been deleted, the "gallery" should most definitely be pulled. If they're just not on the site, the uploader should instead upload those images, rather than putting them in a format we cannot save, favorite, vote/comment on, etc.

The way I phrased it, a comic would count as a theme so isn't considered an image gallery flash regardless. :p (and odds are would also likely to be all from the same artist)
