If there's any correlation, it's probably due to an unforeseen interaction between factors. E.g., of all the people who might be furries (based on their attachment to anthropomorphizing animals in illustration and/or writing etc.), the only ones you will actually meet as "furries" are the ones who are open-minded enough to admit it of themselves. I guess I'd call that a self-selection effect.

More on the matter, though - with furries or with non-furries, it depends who you're asking and how. I am confident that, if I asked my dearest friends for help, they would do what they could without hesitation. I would do the same for them. So, if you don't have friends who are dear to you and to whom you are dear, perhaps you should try making some...?

Not really no. I've been told to bugger off by many furries, and helped by many non-furries.

Also, help does not equal open mindedness.

But I'll say some more things anyways. I've met plenty of furries who are pretty damn close-minded, and I've met a lot of non-furries who are incredibly helpful. Furries might seem open-minded because they are already accepting of something not many others are: furries. But just because they're acclimated to a concept as radical as anthropomorphized animals it doesn't necessarily mean they are accepting of other obscure concepts. It also goes into stereotyping, where if someone is furry you automatically assume other things about them (i.e. an interest in bestiality, homo/bisexuality, being open-minded, etc.).

As for helpfulness, it has nothing to do with them being furries. Again, I've never seen a correlation between being furry and being helpful.

Myself, I find furries are generally much, much more open-minded... about furries. Everything else is a wash. Except for drama. There definitely seems to be a larger streak of drama among furries than elsewhere.

Eh, to me furries seem like pretty much any other subculture there is:
-More open-minded about things that are accepted by their clique.
-Less open-minded about things that are not accepted by their clique.

It's not that furries are more open-minded than other people, it's just that they're more open-minded about the things you're into (assuming you're a furry yourself, or at least into furry stuff - which is a pretty safe assumption given the nature of this site). Much as some idiots would like to claim otherwise, furries are 100% human and are prone to the same pettiness as anyone else.

I'm completely open-minded because I just don't care. I don't care what the fuck you do, as long as it doesn't negatively affect me or my friends. You could be an atheist who just got done with an orgy with your wife, son, daughter, and dog while taping it, and you could show me said tape, and I still wouldn't care.

I do have certain morals and stuff, but I can very easily ignore them. The only people I don't accept are assholes who fuck with people just for the fuck of it. They're annoying, and i'd gladly kill them if they tried to get physical with me. But I digress, conservatists need to get lives.

they're all immature children. this is probably the only "mature" (and I use that term VERY loosely) site you'll find if the furry community.

I think it's pointless to make sweeping generalizations on things like this, when such things can only be based on an individual basis. Not all furries are sex crazed fiends, not all gay people are flamingly so. Not all furries are open minded.

Not to mention the anonymity factor of the internet. Those who do such dickish things as make fun of the deceased don't have to worry about being held directly responsible for their actions, aside from bannings and community backlash, to which their usual response tends to be "lol drama, people on the internet don't like me." Someone's not going to beat them up for it, so it's apparently okay to be a douchebag. Same goes for just about any site. Youtube, dA, you can find assholes anywhere. It doesn't seem sound logic to judge a site and it's user for what some users do. Not until the staff start doing the same. I won't defend FA on that point, but neither would I defend e621, for the same reasons.

And much like here, lots of folks on FA don't appreciate being told how horny something makes you. Because much like here, no one needs or wants to know that.

But furries in general aren't more open minded than others. They are like most of the other social groups or minorities out there; very tolerant to people with the same interests, but also easily disgusted by certain things they don't like.
