I noted that some pictures of bats are also tagged as vampire and therefore, get an undead tag automatically. I am not quite sure what would be the best way to get around that. I started removing the undead tag and changing vampire to vampire_bat (if they show them with long teeth, drinking blood etc.) and removing it altogether otherwise. If they show any of the Dracula cliches (except drinking blood), like not appearing in a mirror or look a bit dead, I leave the vampire (and undead) tag. But maybe it would be better to have vampire_(myth) and vampire_(animal) or to remove the implication?

We'd only tag vampire bat if we see the bat doing something vampiric, like drinking blood. If not, it's just a normal bat. I'm not sure about vampire bats being tagged with undead because you might not be able to tell if if it's a vampire bat, so you might not be able to tell if it's undead. And why would we need vampire_(animal) and vampire_(myth)? Vampires aren't animals, and everyone knows about the vampire mythos, so we only need the one vampire tag for that.

Vampire_bat is for vampiric bats. Vampire is for the undead variety. If it's a vampire and it's not a bat, it's by default a normal undead vampire.

So then what about somebody in a vampire COSTUME? It would still be eligible for the Vampire tag, but the Undead tag would be completely out of place because the character is not undead.

I think it would still apply. If a vampire is undead, wouldn't a costume of a vampire also be a costume of an undead creature?

This is exactly the argument given and agreed with when we initially decided on making it imply undead.

It's a costume, but the person wearing it isn't undead. If a cheetah is wearing bunny ears, the cheetah isn't a lagomorph, it's still a feline.

But you wouldn't tag a cheetah wearing bunny ears with "rabbit". You'd tag is "rabbit_ears".

Now if the cheetah were wearing a full-body rabbit costume, it might be tagged as "rabbit", and I wouldn't argue with the lagomorph tag that comes with it.

If for no other reason, someone might search for "undead costume" and expect to find vampires, ghosts, omgzombieseatingmybraaaaaaaain....
