Topic: Non-flash Animations

Posted under Off Topic

I'm testing a new program that records/extracts non-flash programs, then use another program to convert them into a flash format where you can scroll through the animation. If anybody has any interesting links, feel free to pop them in here and I can take a gander at them.

Such as Youtube and Vimeo.

Wait, so this can take a Youtube video and make it into an .swf file without sacrificing quality?

I wish there was a .swf -> .gif converter. But I will later tonight, I have a KOTH clip I'd like as a .swf.

If the video is two minutes long or less. Then yes, I can do it without sacrificing quality. 3 minutes and beyond...well thanks to the filesize limit, that's when you begin to see pixels.

To be more precise, for something like Youtube, I record the monitor while the video plays into an avi format, then i use another program to convert it into a swf format. If it's already in a downloadable video format, all the better.

FFS, what is wrong with you people? Recording your monitor? Just use a script like youtube-dl to download the high quality MP4 directly off of youtube, and then use FFmpeg to convert from MP4 to SWF, or SWF to GIF. Yes, there is a program that will convert a SWF to an animated GIF.

As aggressive as your comment was, I have taken your advice and appreciate it.
