Topic: Explicit thumbnails replaced with "explicit" makes this site unpleasant

Posted under General

As in, unpleasant to the point where I can't stand to use it. How do I make it stop replacing the thumbnails for explicit pictures with the word "explicit"? I've checked through the My Account options, searched the forums, did a google search and found nothing.

That's weird. I don't have that issue.

Edit: Sorry, that's not really helpful. Mostly I mean that it might not be a site setting, as I have done nothing to mine.

It's because javascript is turned off. Turn it back on and you'll get the real thumbnails.

(Yes, I know this is dumb and annoying, I'll try to do something about it soon)

If you're using NoScript or a similar program, allow e621 and it clears it right up.

By the way, the issue is fixed in the next pending update.

Excuse me Mr. tony311. What are we, the e621 people, gonna expect from the next update? Just that.

really annoying thing about thumbs :(

NoScript says there are 169 java scripts on e621 thumbs list page. It's scary to let all of them to run. Multiply this 169 by about 20-30 e621 pages i have open in browser during browsing e621. That thousands of scripts and it's damn weird. They make my browser laggy.

Said scripts are only a line or two each.

i love people who run noscript and then expect websites to work like they did without it.

You should expect basic site functionality to work without javascript. In this case, thumbnails appearing. Which is probably why tony said he would fix it.

Actually, you kind of are supposed to make sure your site doesn't break when viewed without third-party software (such as Java). It's just that most sites these days completely ignore the standards.

this is a temporary solution to a major issue we have and will be expanded upon to the full solution in the next update. We do apologize to the remaining .3% that are getting affected. We aren't forgetting you!

Let me guess. You think everyone is an American, and so is the Internet and its protocols and standards.

I can't think of a reasonable definition of "third party software" that includes javascript, so I'm not sure why you brought this up. Almost every browser I can think of has javascript built in (the one exception being Lynx, and why would you visit e6 with lynx i dont even).
