Topic: Flag-for-Deletion: "Low Quality artwork"?

Posted under General

I was leisurely reading through some stuff--Ban Reasons, in particular, and was looking at some of the Flag For Deletion bans. I decided it would be a good idea to brush up on the site rules, and looked at the area for "Valid Flag-For-Deletion Reasons".

Now, looking at these, I realize that I made a few Flags a while ago when I was manually sorting the "Feminine" and "Girly" tags that weren't in compliance with the valid Flagging reasons. Naturally, by this topic title, you can guess my flag reason.

However, I'm pretty certain that my Flags went through, and that the two images I flagged were deleted. I never got any warnings or anything, so I figured that it was okay.

I just want to get some clarification here and make sure I don't ever accidentally overstep any boundaries in the future--does this mean that it's also okay to flag some images for being particularly low quality, or were the two images I flagged just that terrible to warrant being deleted?

You want to avoid flagging things for being low quality; that's why we have a moderator queue. Flagging things because you don't think they're good enough to be here is essentially backseat moderating, especially if a mod has already approved it. And if they haven't approved it, then they're gonna have to look at it anyway, at which point they will decide if it's good enough or not.

The only exception to this I can think of is if a contributor posts something that's of substandard quality, since their posts are auto-approved.

As a rule of thumb, I don't mark low quality images for deletion unless there's a higher quality version on the site. I figure if the mods approved it in the first place then they probably feel it belongs here.

Understood, I'll keep this stuff in mind for future reference. Thanks, everybody.
