Topic: Two quick questions

Posted under General

Hey all

1) If I have a larger version of an image that's already posted should I upload it? If so what process should I take to request a removal of the smaller version?

2) I remember seeing a flash that was taken down and I was wondering why if that's possible to find out? It was called "Megaloop 3.0" and had various songs loops to sprites.

The reason being is that I'm planning to upload something similar and I need to check if it was taken down due to the music or to a artist takedown, actually third question sorry.

3) What's the policy on music flash uploads? I'm presuming short loops are ok but do you stop at full songs?

Thanks in advance.

By all means, yes. If you have the larger version of the same image, then of course you should upload it.
After you've uploaded the larger version, go to the lower res one and parent the larger one to the smaller. After you've done that, proceed to flag the lower res one for deletion giving the reason something along the lines of "Lower-res version of post #xxxxxx" and it will get looked at, and probably removed, by a mod.

Most things that deal with music and/or loops are pretty much viewed as off topic, or irrelevant to the site, depending on what the content is. Though we can make exceptions for nearly everything, that doesn't mean they're guaranteed to stay if you upload them. I wasn't able to find the post you mentioned, but I think I know what you're talking about and I'm not sure why it was deleted, if it was deleted.

You could always try to upload whatever it is you're wanting to upload and see if it gets accepted. For stuff like that though, it's judged on a case-by-case basis. So the worst that could happen is it gets deleted. (Well, unless you post off-topic stuff all the time.)

Thanks for the reply greatly appreciated, one last question, how do I parent the smaller version?

Sorry if that sounds stupid I need to ask so I don't make a mistake.

It's really simple. Go to the post with the larger-res version and either copy the post Id from the url or from the side where it says "Statistics", go to the post page of the lower-res version, click "Edit" and paste the post Id numbers in the field next to where it says "parent"

Once you've done that, click submit and flag the lower-res post.

All takedown requests from artists, character owners, etc are logged here: http://e621.net/take_down It can be a bit of a pain to go through if you don't already know the name of the artist that drew the picture in question though, but that's not really the intent of the list anyways.
