Ok so it's been brought to my attention that even our own admins haven't been doing a terribly good job of abiding by the site's "no humanized MLP" rule themselves. I've seen admins in the past that have given exceptions to pictures that contain only humanized MLP characters for kind of silly reasons such as "there's a non-humanized plush that you can kind of see in the background, so this picture stays" or even "I know it's humanized MLP, but I like it so it stays.".

Obviously, it is not OK for the site to have a rule telling users that we explicitly do not allow images containing ONLY humanized-MLP, and then make exceptions to the rule just whenever we feel like it. That's confusing for both administrators and users alike, and does not put the e621 admin team in a good light.

So we are lifting the "no humanized-MLP" rule.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

It means that humanized-MLP pictures will be treated JUST THE SAME as ANY pictures containing only humans in them. While we don't explicitly disallow human-only artwork, the chances that human-only artwork will be approved are usually pretty slim. So lifting the "no humanized-MLP" rule does NOT mean that humanized-MLP is going to be approved if it's uploaded. It simply means that admins now have the ability to judge them on a case-by-case basis, just the same as any other pictures of humans.

Please direct all of your outrage below.

Actually thats the most valid point i think i've heard mentioned on this site, thats actually why i have nothing blacklisted, beacuse i'd then miss out on some fantastic art just beacuse it has the "gay" tag or "scat" tag
(actually apon deeper thought i don't think i've ever seen GOOD scat, i might have to change that on my blacklist)

You can search for blacklisted item, so you can blacklist something and then check up on it every so often. Also, I think there's a way to blacklist items based on their score, though I'm not sure what the syntax would be. That would give you a rough sort on the more bizarre stuff.

What this site is "REALLY" about, in my opinion, is entertaining furries, our target audience. Furries like furry porn, furries like furry art, and furries also enjoy things that are not exclusively furry. We know that furries who come to this site are MAINLY looking for furry art/porn, so that's what we approve the most. We do allow not-furry stuff to trickle in as well, but they're usually things that we believe our target audience will still enjoy to some extent (TF2, Minecraft, Zelda, WoW, Metroid, a few animes, funny images, and so on).

If you want e621 to be exclusively furry, it's honestly as simple as just blacklisting "not_furry".

As in 100% human, meaning no tail or animal ears. Although if they occupy the same image as ponies or furries or whatever then the image will most likely stay.

Since I have MLP blocked this affects me in absolutely no way and that's just how I want it to be. :3

In a nutshell, we actually had a more STRICT restriction on HUMANS for mlp then we do in humans in general. In general we had a "Can be deleted at mod discretion" For most human or "Not furry" pics. Human MLP was slated for Instant deletion to stim down on the sheer influx of it at the time {Keeping in mind we were getting around 60-90 pics of MLP art a Day.)

If there was a rule against humanized pokémon, the admins wouldn't break that rule so much you had to get rid of it.

Well if the administration and the mods has an agreement to it, it is okay in any standard. And still this place is an Image board, so not everything has to be porn XD

For me it doesn't really make any big difference, other than that some nicely drawn pictures may stay and some might not. If I had a complaint I would take it up with the admins though still it is their own thoughts and changings, if they agree or disagree is up to them.

I still feel that if the content is related to something furry even if it isn't furry by itself, it should be allowed period.

I really wish people would take a moment to remember that e621.net wouldn't exist right now if it weren't for Varka and I, which I think is directly attributable to the way the site was administrated previously. I'm not saying that I think that means you guys should be eternally grateful no matter what we do; I'm just saying that I think something to keep in mind is "the website DID NOT SURVIVE under the old admins". Now, the site's reputation among artists IS improving, and none of the "crazies" that have contacted us via e-mail about getting us shut down have done so after talking with us (or if they have we sure haven't heard about it).

Feel free to look through our list of takedown requests (http://e621.net/take_down) if you're worried about the site not having any artwork anymore. Usually our takedown requests are TINY, just a few images that the artist doesn't want on the site for whatever reason. And many of them are from artists that would have been ok with it if anyone had asked their permission first.

This site typically gets around 200 APPROVED pictures per day. How many get deleted per day as a result of takedowns on average? About five? If this site runs out of content, I don't think it's going to be because artists have it taken down.

In other words, you're being pretty sensationalist with just about every remark you made, and the facts don't seem to agree with you. I'm all for people critiquing the way I manage this site, but please at least do some research and have the facts on your side before making claims, because then I'm just having to waste time doing that research for you and writing up responses that are nothing but refutations of pretty much your entire argument. I'd much rather listen to criticism that I can learn and benefit from rather than criticism that isn't even based on reality.
