Topic: e621: Mobile Version?

Posted under General

If you're looking for a way to browse on your mobile, I use e621 from my mobile a lot with Opera Mini. It's a great mobile browser that works good with e621.

There's an Android app called "Andbooru" that actually works with e621.net if you have an Android phone and want to give that a try.

It's VERY simple. Basically you get to search and you get to browse, that's it. There's no account-based functionality of any kind. Still, if all you want is to search and browse, there you go.

One kind of big drawback is that it doesn't support flash content, though.

You could... get a mobile phone with the interwebz?
I have a feeling it isn't as simple as that, though.

Aurali probably already has a phone with internet access. I'm guessing software and hardware vary too much across different phones, and she can't go around buying every single one to test compatibility.

I'm guessing it's that exactly. HUGE software variability. I have an Android phone. I can use Android's browser: Browser. Or, I could use Verizon's loaded browser, VZNavigator. Or I could download one of a dozen browsers. The market is so new that anyone with a smartphone is about as likely to use one as any of the others. Whereas for computers, there are really only 4 main browsers to worry about, plus one or two smaller, though still somewhat popular, browsers.

I have an android phone. I can test with android. I can support android.
However...
I don't have a nokia phone. I can't test with a nokia, I can't support nokia.
I don't have a blackberry, I can't test with blackberry, I can't support blackberry..
I don't have a windows 7 phone, I can't test with W7, I can't support W7,
I don't have an IOS phone. I can't test with iOS, I can't support iOS (Someone should get me an ipad :p)

e621 does work without javascript and you can change the limit of how many images show up at once in your profile. So You can make e621 as light as you want.
