I have a pretty bad record and I plan on uploading *QUALITY* work on here but I would really hate to be banned and then my work doesn't even disappear. I am really really sorry for everything I did, is there ANY way I can reset my account and start over?

Maybe a probational period? If I go so many months without a single violation WHILE still contributing to the site then ad least the red record will be cleared but if I mess up then something REALLY bad will happen? Some kind of deal? Anything?

You can't clear your record. If you really want to start over, then make a new account.

But... but... but... what if I got the maximum number or strikes before ban and go 7 years without a single violation and then get 1 tiny infraction and BAM get banned, does a large gap between violations mean anything at least?

This thread is relevant to your interests.

Mods will remove a negative record if it's a minor infraction and enough time has passed.

I imagine in your case you'd have to wait a long time and seriously improve your behavior before the mods would consider clearing your record.

Also you can cancel out negative records by getting positive ones.

For example, I have both a negative record for uploading DNP art and a positive one for always tagging artists on my uploads. The two balance eachother out.

That's really bad advice.
We account for track records on other accounts when deciding suitable punishments for bad behavior, so making a new account won't help you. Just behave and help the site out and you may start finding negative records disappearing over time. A long time...

Also no. No matter how many positives you may have, getting in trouble two or three times will still likely result in bans. In your case, you have two strikes for posting DNP, and the third strike is almost always a ban, regardless of any positives you may have.

In the thread I linked it took Raiden Gekkou two years to get one of his negative marks removed.

It's probably some kind of function of the seriousness of the offense weighed against the amount of time since you committed it and how much you've improved your behavior since that point.

Though theoretically speaking, I could use my neighbors house computer and have 2 separate I.P addresses lol! Since it WILL be a "long, long time" :)

This is all in theory, I speak hypothetical alot!

Wish I could just go on probation and get it over with in 6 months though :(

Record integer shouldn't be what you think about. You should just follow the rules and you won't have a problem.
