Only to see if something happens. Then I'll go back to life as normal.

I'll probably watch some of the opening ceremony online at some point.

Other than that, google gives me medal counts, and that's enough info for my needs.

Ah, no. I want to see if there's a serial killer like from the World Fair at the Olympics instead.

I dont think so... Not that I dont appreciate what they do, I just dont think I will watch much if any

I prefer the Winter Olympics, but even there I'm becoming disenchanted with the conduct of the Olympic Committee and the degree to which whole nations will bend over backwards just to host them. I appreciate what the athletes do, I'm just not comfortable supporting the commercial machine that's built around it, and wish there were alternatives to support instead.

Nope. It's not that I'm totally uninterested in watching it, I just have no motivation to.

I haven't watched much of anything on TV ever since reality shows took over.

Olympics is the only time that it's acceptable to stare, and give scores at under aged girls in skin tight clothing for how flexible they are.

Just saying, Olympic gymnastics judges might just be pedophiles.

Is the Olympics starting? I'm so cut off TV in the meantime... Not that I care.

Cause y'know? Augh, forget it.

Are you guys going to watch the olympic if you have the time?

I have Picture-In-Picture on my 32" monitor. I stream the olympics in the lower right while I post and surf. Michael Phelps is really showing his age, guess its to be expected this far into his career.

I wanted to initially, but several things have frustrated me. Now I'm just ignoring the Olympics as a matter of personal protest.

First, NBC has exclusive broadcasting and streaming rights in the United States. Anyone else can only post photos or short clips unless they're an NBC partner who will return part of any profits to NBC. To me, that's a monopoly.

Second, the London Olympic Committee has essentially forbidden any local companies from profiting off of the games. They are not allowed to use words or phrases including "2012 Games" or "Gold" in any of their advertising.

Finally, Visa has been given ownership of all transactions inside the Olympic Village. You can't even buy a soft drink at a vending machine without a Visa card. Seriously. Not even with cash.

At this point it's all so commercialized that it's barely about the sport any more. I'm just not interested.

I usually just watch the opening ceremonies, but I was working, so fuck it.

That seems to be inaccurate. I don't know about the vending machines, but apparently Wembley's had to go cash only after a problem with their card terminals. They had to be set up to handle cash in the first place to go cash only.

Nobody's mentioned doping yet.
Why would I watch a sports event where everybody's cheating?

Hm. I'm not sure what Wembley's is, so I'll have to take your word for it. I was going based on an interview from NPR, which is usually pretty reliable. Mind you, going cash-only is a pretty easy switchover if you've got any cash handling equipment and a well-provisioned bank nearby.

It's Visa or Cash, you can't not take cash.

I'm not sure either, but I was searching for "Olympics 2012 visa cash" or something like that and it was pages and pages about the cash-only Wembley's problem.

I think it's one of the stadiums or something?
