Topic: None of the pictures are showing up for me.

Posted under General

All the images on this site aren't showing for me, it's giving me the no-image little-red-X-on-white-paper in the corner thing. Is this a problem on my end? What should I do?

Your help is much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Drac

Oh, and just to clarify, I can see them all in the thumbnails, but when I click on them and it goes to the page, that's when it gives me the problem.

What browser are you using? Does it work in other browsers?

Tried it on Firefox, originally posted from Internet Explorer. On IE I got the red-X thing, on Firefox I don't get that, I just see the tags of the picture in the middle of the page with no image or attempt at an image showing.

Try opera it works for me. also FF works too, as well as IE. Maybe its your firewall... Check settings in your FF, download the newest Flash plug in and try tune up...

Would the settings I'm looking to check in FireFox be under Tools? I'm pretty lame when it comes to computers.

Also, is the Flash plug-in different from Adobe Flash Player? Because I downloaded that for IE with no results.

I'd suspect an over active "internet security suite", there are a lot of ads around and it could be going into panic mode and just blocking everything.

Aside from that, are you using recent versions of browsers? There might be some funkiness going on if you're terribly out of date.

Yes. Also i ment adobe flash... Hmm... The thing is flash plug in has nothing to do with this...

Try Tune Up. If there are program errors it will fix it, or you can wait for the all mighty Kitsu to tell you what is wrong.

I'll try Tune Up. Also, tried Opera, gave me the picture-less window that IE gave, but without the red X in the corner.

And when that inevitably fails, I'll wait for this mysterious "Kitsu"

The common theory is that something is modifying the 'referrer' header of the image request, this tells e621 what page the image was loaded on, so that e621 can block other websites from using the images here.

Because the 'referrer' header is not provided, e621 doesn't know what page the image was loaded from, it assumes it was loaded from a website other than e621 and prevents it from loading.

A firewall, proxy, 'internet security suite' or even 'internet privacy tools' are the most likely culprits.

Try using different browsers, PCs, operating systems and maybe even routers.

Of course, the problem might not be with the headers (although occam's razor suggests it is).

Tamper data plugin can log post data being received and sent in firefox. This could work to see what's going on, including referers, redirects, permission denials, and other miscellaneous data. This is assuming there isn't some sort of editing of your incoming data from a firewall.
