Topic: My own private e621

Posted under Off Topic

I want to install a local imageboard on my computer.
To organize my rather extensive furry porn collection.
Any recommendations?

Nope.

I used to be part of a project that could browse and download pictures from e6 along with their tag info, which would allow for a searchable local collection, but then a new guy codebombed the project and before I got around to cleaning it up and fixing all the bugs he added, I decided it wasn't worthwhile because there's already e6.

I mean, it was fun to participate in the project. But there's already e6. If I want to find an image, it's already on e6.

It kind of seems like a waste of time to maintain a local copy of e621. e621 already exists.

No, not a local copy of e621.
My own porn collection, which is not identical to e621 :)

You could always install Apache, download the Danbooru source, and roll your own that way. It doesn't have to be exposed to the public, it just needs a webserver you can run it on.

This. That's what I did. Took a bit to get it running but now it archives every image I download. Feels goodman.

I just run a copy of ouroboros on mine.
Heck I'm so cool I get the software before e621 does >.>

I'm so cool I write the software before Aurali gets it

Uhm.... folders with names?

Either you have each image once (in which case you effectively get one tag per image), or you have the same image in multiple locations (in which case you're wasting storage space). A tagging system is better.

I need to sort mine out.

I've tried using yiffindex (as the name implies, it's a furry-specific image tagging program), but to use that properly, I'd have to dump everything into One Big Folder and dedupe, which would mess with my quick and easy drag-into-FDM_widget-and-pick-folder downloading method.

The only reason you'd want this, that I can imagine, is e621 excludes a lengthy list of artists, by necessity. Like how I keep a large collection of works, including from DNP artists.
