Topic: Explaining my apparent "weak" tagging

Posted under General

You may have noticed that I was uploading a bunch of images with very few tags, for example "inuki tagme".

This is not because I am too lazy to tag them, it's because I had uploaded them using a program I built.

After they uploaded I went through each and tagged them.

The program automatically posts images of someone's FurAffinity gallery on e621, so there isn't much information available to use as tags.

Additionally, if someone would like me to upload an artists gallery, feel free to ask, but you will have to do the tagging.

I'd rather not have automated_uploads of everything in specific artists' galleries. Let's try to employ some selectivity in what we post.

I try to enforce this myself in the upload script I wrote by requiring some tags before uploading. ICBA to do that for weak art, so it seems to work out.

You might want to document your 'bot in the wiki.

I have a few issues with your system, Kitsu. Even if tags have been being added, something's going horribly wrong with them.

Let's use this image of K'sharra, for an example:

I don't know where you pulled "necklace," "headband," "leg band," or "tail ring." Tiger's have things called "stripes," you know. Speaking of which, where was the "tiger" tag? And I don't even want to know where "tentacles" came from. Looks like a pool cue to me.

I tired fixing a little bit of the damage, though with a bit more attention it could be touched up on.

I'm sorry I'm getting at you twice about the tagging, but I'm afraid to look and see what's left in the wake of your 1000+ images. I shudder to think how many of those need fixing too.

I am also aware of that issue, I thought I fixed most of them, guess not :(

It wasn't a problem with my uploading software, but a problem with programs that I used to tag the images. It seems at some point a lot of images were tagged with the tags of a single image.

I have blacklisted those tags from being uploaded with my uploader, so the problem shouldn't be an issue any more.

Is everything still going to be marked "questionable," though? I've seen quite a few explicit images mismarked in that sense. Just another observation.

Forgot one thing. General question to anyone.
What should we do about dupes? <______<

Well, I was never able to attach that kind of data to the image files, so I wasn't able to transfer it across.

Luckily, there is a "Mark explicit mode" which allows you to set the rating by simply clicking the image's thumbnail.

With dupes, child the one with the inferior quality to the better one, and than mark for deletion.

Please share that program/script, it can come in very handy for me...
