How many sites are running the same platform as e621?

I've seen many, some more simpler, that have almost the same functionality as e621. But while looking for a source I encountered this: http://i46.tinypic.com/6dr4lx.png

As you can see the similarities are scary. On the left we have e621's version and at the right is 20% Cooler's version. The only differences that I see are the name and the color scheme. In the right one I feel like I'm on Sonic's "Scrap Brain 3", with all that, purple color

Notes
  • ADs are hidden for comparison reasons
  • I just copied the source and artist tag (also thought to copy all tags but didn't do it, just to be sure)

Sorry if this is kinda awkward, it just suprised me that both are similar

If I understand correctly, 20% Cooler is a spinoff of e621 and it is thus using exactly the same software.

20PC/E621 both are run on a custom platform. We are currently the only two sites who run this platform, most other "image archives' run on daniboru and another booru freebie script that I forget the name of.

20PC is run by some of the same people that run e621 and the codebase is shared between the two, that's why they're the same.

e621's code is just a heavily modified version of Danbooru, and while 20PC is the only other site running our specific fork of it, plenty of other sites use the original Danbooru code (wildcritters, and any other site with booru in the name).

Kudos to whoever made the codebase for the two sites. It's probably my favorite of all the booru-type sites. WC is okay too, though the two WC's offer different functions now that the .ws variant has switched over to a different base.

That'd be Aurali and Tony.

Well, I knew Aurali was a coder, but I didn't know about tony. I just figured I would be vague since I figured coding was a multi-person job.

I'm not a coder anyway, and I don't pretend to be. I just deal with the pictures.

So, it could be said that e621 is (basically) a platform and 20PC runs e621? or 20PC is the pony version of e621?

I'm not a coder either (just know a little bit of this and that). I'm curious about this.

4 sites run Ouroboros, the software that was developed for e621 and later on 20pc in mind.

I only know of one other, it was supposed to be made public some while ago, but that seems to have never happened. Of course, before that, it was supposed to have been the target of a large tagging campaign... I volunteered for that and even got started on it, but when it felt like I was the only person trying to seriously tag stuff, I lost interest. I probably spend too much time dithering over every last possible tag anyways.

What happened to it? Got lost on the internet?

Maybe! It seems to be down. I can resolve the hostname to an IP address, but get a timeout whenever I try to go to it. Maybe the project was dropped.

that project was scrapped when the people we were trying to replace took notice and got their acts together

Anyhow, there is another site but its not related to e621 at all

Would that be the same people that most of the images seemed to be sourced from? Man, those people sucked at tagging, hardcore.

I started some tagging there as well. it was a x.it site right? As I recall, adding numerous tags at once only counted for one tag in your profile.

Works the same way here.

Really? I would have much more than roughly 2k edits if each tag counted. Thanks for the clarification.
