I do 3D anaglyph artwork where I turn a regular images into images in which the character(s) pop out in 3D...

Well, some people don't understand this. I had a comment on the one I just uploaded "Cross your eyes when looking at this... And you will get a headache." You do not cross your eyes. You put on red/cyan 3D glasses. Crossing your eyes is for an image that is 2 images side by side, not one image like mine are.

Some others criticize way too harshly. When I was new and just started 3D work, I had a program do it for me (which actually sucked) and I thought it was good (because I was basically a noob) so I upload a few images and get flamed. No constructive criticism or tips on how to do it right, just comments that basically call the artwork shitty.

A comment on one of my posts when I was new:

I saw the crossed eyes comment and thought the guy was being a jerk. Unfortunately, that's just the nature of the Internet—you have socially inept people combined with a modicum of anonymity, and their fingers start typing things their mouths wouldn't say if you were there to give them the ass kicking they earn from it.

You just have to develop a thick skin on one side, and try to keep employing your own filters when you're tempted to be a smartass yourself.

For my own part, I don't have a pair of red-cyan glasses, and I'm not a big fan of 3D. Even on television sets and movies, I don't like needing extra equipment to appreciate something that doesn't also engage my mind longer than a few seconds.

In reality, it's awesome that you've found something that interests you enough to share it with others. I think you should keep at it! But you may be right that this audience won't appreciate your work as much as others.

Here's the big difference between FA and e621: FA is all about the artist, and e621 is all about the art. It's quite possible that a lot of the people here that commented on your submissions weren't even aware that you were the artist.

On e621, since we get less than 200 new submissions per day, it's very easy for users to see EVERY submission that gets uploaded each day if they want to. That includes submissions they'll love as well as submissions they'll hate. I think what you're experiencing on FA is the first point I mentioned above (FA is about the artist), plus the fact that your artwork literally gets lost in a sea of other art, so literally the ONLY people seeing your artwork are those that WANT to see it (and who know that you even exist).

I decided to compare your submissions in your FA gallery to your submissions on e621, and in a LOT of cases, your artwork has more faves here on e621 than it does on FA. Additionally, a LOT of your submissions on FA have no comments whatsoever, and a lot of the ones that do have comments are comments only from the person that originally requested the image.

The bottom line is your artwork is currently receiving more exposure on e621 than it is on FA. Along with that increased exposure comes increased chances for negative comments (and you HAVE received several positive comments on e621, and even constructive criticism).

As far as you uploading your favorite Disturbed shirt, again there were a few people who told you that they weren't personally fans of Disturbed but could appreciate the artwork, or even that they enjoyed both the shirt and the band. And then yes, there were a couple of people who decided to let you know how much they didn't like Disturbed. They have a different opinion than you and there is nothing wrong with that. When you uploaded that shirt design to e621, it's basically ASSUMED that you're saying "Hey guys what do you think of this?" and there are people who are going to tell you that they hate it. That opinion is just as valid as anyone else's opinion.

My point is that you seem to be getting really hung up on just the VERY few people who are leaving negative comments on your submissions, and saying that those negative comments completely wash out any positive or constructive comments that others are leaving.

Additionally, I've seen you tell at least one user to blacklist 3D stuff if they don't like it. I'm not sure if you're aware, but the blacklist can also be applied to users as well, which will hide their comments, forum posts, dmails, and blips. If you notice a few users constantly getting on your case, then add them to your blacklist: http://e621.net/user/edit (add user:whoever, and don't forget to check that checkbox). Now you don't have to see their comments anymore either. :)

In any case, hope things work out for you on FA.

Like I said, that was when i was NEW. I didn't know that it was shifted diagonally and I didn't know that affected the 3D effect! But just because I did it like that doesn't mean that someone needs to be that harsh and call my posts pieces of shit.

And I don't expect people to say WOW and be amazed. I don't care if they even like it. But I do care if someone starts shit on my posts like that. That's why I responded and that's why I am starting to fucking hate this site. It's a bunch of immature, ignorant idiots. I don't run them through a filter. I do what a lot of artists do. I use photoshop. It's actually pretty hard. It's not drawing, but it is creating and effect not very many people know how to do. So that being said, how am I not an artist? And even if you still think I'm not, how am I making anyone look bad?

Yeah haha I've noticed. And the e621/FA exposure is kinda half and half. I can't tell how many favorites my posts on here get though. The most upvoted is only +10 votes, though. So if everyone that faved also upvoted, then 10 faves. That image got 24 faves on FA. So I don't really know.

I do try to say thank you to everyone that is positive, though.

And ehh it's not how many people say negative things rather it's what the negative people say. Just imagine being brand new to this site and a brand new artist and someone comments on your post saying it's really bad and should've been rejected. Artists make art. Art is "The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture". So is what I do not creative? Does it not take skill? And did it not require some imagination? Oh and art is not just done by drawing. It can be painting, drawing, sculpting, 3D modeling, and more. What I do makes an effect the images didn't have before. I also do do some 3D modeling (I uploaded it here and on FA). So how am I not an artist?

Yes, and if you look on FA all I do is take requests and work on them (Not including my story - I'm just doing that as a time filler when I don't have requests to work on) which means that not only do I have permission, but the person actually wants it done.
