Topic: does e621 have a virus?

Posted under General

i was on e621 the other day and got a popup that downloaded some java thing that was actually a virus. i deleted it and everything was ok. two days later i was on e621 and the same thing happened. is this a coincidence or does e621 have a virus?

i looked at the forums and saw that olddoom was having the same problem.

Well, it's definitely Java that's doing it, AVG earlier got a virus in my Java folder, but I didn't report it in the other thread considering it had been a system scan, and I presumed it was from another site I visited.

we already came to the conclusion that e621 itself doesn't, the ads do

Arc, you might want to talk to your ad providers about this :(
If you haven't already..

I'm not sure of the software you use ads with, but is it possible to block non image/flash content?

Ehh, ain't ads delivered via cross-site iframe? I don't think that it's possible to filter it on server then

Though, I think site visitors could help keeping their antivirus up to date

My antivirus was up to date when I got it. It uses a random string in its name so I think that makes it harder to detect.
