hey im trying to post some of my work from microsoft paint and for some resone it keeps on saying theres some BMP error that i need to fix what is a BMP and how do i fix it?

bitmap or something like that. it a file format that windows uses for images. maybe get a nice photo-editing software that changes file types? i forgot the one i used to use but, i think something like charmaleone, something really close to the pokémon charmander's evolutions name

If it's a bmp file, changing it to a jpeg would lose quality. Change the last part from .jpg to .png

This will increase filesize, but you'll be able to upload it, and it will retain quality.

Open with windows photo viewer, save as PNG, and upload.

Easy as pie.

Yes, the extension has to be PNG. You can chose between PNG BMP and JPG.

Yeah, changing the extension does not change the format with which the picture is saved as. If you drew it in Paint, you should have the option to 'save as' a .png file

The best filetype depends on the content of the image. If it has a lot of very detailed areas, like you would find in a photo, JPEG is the best choice, since there aren't many sharp lines where compression artifacts can be seen.

On the other hand, PNG is best for simple images with sharp lines and large areas of single color, where JPEG's compression will look bad.

If its small = PNG / GIF
If its big = JPG

and if there are very few colors in the image: gif.
