I remember that the "server is currently overloaded due to high traffic" problem was fixed for awhile after the new server was put in place.

But here lately, it's been happening randomly at all hours of the night when you think that traffic would be at the lowest point.

And it only happens with the thumbnail pages, never anywhere else on the site, even the pages displaying individual images.

Anyone know what's going on?

See, it works like this. We put up a new server. Over time, as the site's popularity and usage continues to grow, eventually, it becomes overloaded again.

Then we get new hardware and it runs fine and because it runs fine, people use it more. Then after about another year..

Sadly, we don't really have the finances to be able to keep ahead of such things as we don't get the kind of money that a site like FurAffinity does.

It already costs over $7000 a year to run this place ._.

It's gotten extremely bad lately, and the worst part is that it DOESNT load things up after a minute... I've let the thing sit for half an hour before and nothing comes up. The best bet you've got is mashing the refresh button until you finally get through.

I see what you're saying, but it still seems strange that in only happens with the thumbnail pages and nowhere else on the site.

Probably because every search operation is a query to the post database (though I don't know much about technical part of e621) and the first page that sould be blocked to reduce load is a search page?
