Topic: Flash file editing/fixing - How To or Help Needed.

Posted under General

Hello,
I have a few flash files I would like to share from a hentai game, but they only work by right-clicking on them and selecting "play".
Unfortunately, I noticed this is not possible any more in firefox after I uploaded the file, so my post got deleted for obvious reasons.

The file just shows a message in japanese and [GameStart.swf] something something. The loop won't start without doing the "Forward" or "Start" old tricks that used to work in browser as well.
I'm guessing it's pretty easy to fix it, but I have no knowledge how to do anything with swf files.

Well, even assuming that the flash files are simple loops and the decompiled Actionscript from them are going to just be a great big set of movieClips, nobody can help you if you don't post some sort of link to them. Find somewhere else to host them like MegaSWF or link to the original source.

Also, are you absolutely certain that the flash files can be run individually and don't depend on the others existing in the same directory? Many flashes, especially from Japan, break their assets into multiple swf files and depend on having access to all of them to play any of them.

I did not post the file because sometimes people get really aggressive and insulting if they believe the poster just wants others to fix the problem for him.

I would gladly do it myself if I knew how to do things like this. (decimpilers for swf files all just throw a lot of text and buttons at me and I have no idea what to do)

The file was post #273997 and you can download it here if you wish to help.

Sadly, if you can't even recognize whether or not you're getting Actionscript from the decompiler then it's basically a non-starter to ask for a how-to.

It's a little like asking how to disassemble a radio so that you can mod it to always tune to a particular station, without being able to recognize the difference between a resistor, a capacitor, and an inductor. I could talk about screwdrivers, soldering, and offer advice on safety and how not to burn out the electronics. But there's no single way to build a radio, so I have no real hope of helping you solve the problem without having to solve it for you and then try to provide point-by-point steps so you can reproduce it. Though, obviously, it would save me the last step to just post the result, since this is a programming problem.

Do you have any knowledge of programming from which to start? You might consider picking up a free Flash compiler like FlashDevelop and following some tutorials on Flash programming. Hopefully that will make the decompiler's walls of text a little more meaningful.

Otherwise, asking for help may as well be asking for someone else to do it for you. I can't say that I'd volunteer - I've never found a flash where I felt the PITA-to-reward ratio was attractive enough to lure me into decompiling it and making code changes.

Ok, I decompiled, edited, and uploaded the fixed version: post #274374

The radio analogy that ikdind used is pretty fitting, it's hard to say exactly what I did if you don't know ActionScript already. But at least it works now :)

Thank you very much, kind sir.

I'm reviving my own thread as I have another of those situations.
It won't play unless you have a save file in your macromedia directory.

Can somebody be so kind as to explain how to do it, or do it himself?

Thank you.

I can provide the save file if you need it to figure out how to unlock the gallery.

Am I doing some sort of glaring error and that's why everybody is giving me the could shoulder, or is it just that nobody cares enough to modify the flash file for a porn game?

I'm incapable of helping you so I keep my mouth shut.

No, it's because you have 'necroed' a thread. No-one likes you now, you have to regain face.

That was a joke, by the way.

Jokingly or not, I don't understand why people are so against re-using threads. I started it for an almost identical problem. Why make another topic asking to "fix" a flash file if I know there is one for it already?

It's dumb to revive a dead topic if you've got nothing new to say or if the topic is no longer relevant, but when it's merely half a year old and fits the subject very well then I think making a new topic is dumber.

You seem to mostly be interested in bestiality stuff so I'm not really interested.

If you're completely unfamiliar with programming you might benefit from something like https://www.google.com/search?q=Think+like+a+programmer

Although not specific to your problem, you might also benefit from resources such as http://cli.learncodethehardway.org/ because they discuss some of the fundamentals of programming and are free.

After you're familiar with the fundamentals of programming you'll want to investigate https://www.google.com/search?q=Actionscript either by finding a web tutorial/book or purchasing a book on the subject. O'Reilly books on programming topics tend to be popular for most languages.

Then you'll be able to (or at least well upon the road to) use a flash compiler and decompiler effectively.

I'm not saying anything because I don't know Flash. Also it's not bad if you recycle threads for the same purpose

Some people like furry for humans with animal traits, others are in it for the animals.

Anyway, before I even try your advice let me ask this:
Will I be able to decompile and then recreate the swf file with just free software or will I have to buy the adobe suite anyway before I can do anything? Since if adobe's required for exporting it back into a working swf file then it's a game-stopper for me.

Naw, there are quite a few free programms for that, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110201090736AAKTjYM may help you.

You can get a free trial of the swf decompiler, I mean, you can do all the things, but after a few days you'd have to uninstall and reinstall to keep using it.

Uhm... I don't think uninstalling&reinstalling software is enough to reset a trial. Otherwise nobody would buy stuff if you just have to spend 5 minutes on a reinstall after it expires.

I still can't get FlashDevelop to initialise :(
