Topic: What kind of Car do you drive

Posted under Off Topic

I have an Aston Martin DBS Coupe, and it is Awesome! So, what kind of car do you drive? Do you like it, or would you rather have something else?

A Buick Regal. I want my Olypmic Edition back, though, a lot better than the one I have now.

Tangent: I hate the cars of today, and I will say that as long as my Regal still runs you can bet I'd be behind the wheel of it, even if it IS a tank.

Just got a 2003 Hyundai Sonata with <1yr old $700 snow tires. It's in damn near perfect shape; the guy kept in it real good condition. He even put new breaks, spark plugs, battery, belts in it not too long ago. >90% of the mileage is highway. Really smooth ride.

When I was moving my things from my old car to it, I got the finger from someone else who lives the same apartment.

I drive a 2006 Toyota Corolla. I love it! It's a shame so many people actually bought into the propaganda about Toyota safety. That's funny how those issues with a non-union manufacturer surface right after a Democratic Congress authorizes a bailout for its largest competitor that acquires stake in the corporation. I suppose any corrupt politician would want to protect that investment and pander to their voting bloc, but that's another issue to rant about some other time. Sorry for what I've already done :)

I know there's a lot of hype over Hondas holding their value and such, but I'm not looking to sell. I want my car to last for me until I need a new one. I don't have any real complaints about Honda, but Toyota's had one of the best quality records in the business, though what they've made in the past decade isn't up to what they used to build (still not bad, though).

As far as Hyundai and Kia trying to break in on the same market, the Korean companies have got a poor record to compensate for in terms of reliability. Supposedly they've improved in recent years but until those vehicles start rolling over to 150k miles or greater in mass numbers, we won't know for certain where their new quality stands.

I'm certainly not making the argument strictly by country of origin, but I find the best models tend to come out of Germany (though with a noticeable decline in VW quality) and Japan. American cars tend to be hit or miss. I suppose you can probably find a good and bad model from any make from any country, though.

Any thoughts?

I see. I don't know what i could have possibly done to piss people off, but if someone would just tell me what in the Hell I'm doing I'll stop.

If people don't like anything I post then for the love of Hell don't fucking read it, let alone comment on it. I do NOT want to cause displeasure to the Admins, Users, or Visitors to e621.

'Bad' isn't a strong enough word.

Really? Someone I know has a Buick Regal, and it doesn't seem that bad on gas. What's the MPG like? By the way I'm with you on today's cars. They just don't make em like they used to.

I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but it's somewhere in the 'very low' regions. It's probably because it's a POS about to fall apart though.

Yep, Age probably has alot to do with it. I feel your pain a turbo charged V12 isn't exactly a gas sipper either.

I think a lot of it is that you're posting a lot of off-topic threads.

Ok thank you sir or miss. Finally someone tells me what I'm doing wrong. Now, if it will make you all happy, I will stop posting these threads.

I guess I'll be the one to say it.

At this point I don't believe a single word of what you say. Nothing personal, but you're making extraordinary claims about yourself that I feel need to be backed up with evidence.

1971 VW Bus slammed to the ground. :3~

Unfortunately I just blew the new motor I put in it not too long ago. >:|

I understand. Ask the User JoeX, because I have sent him pictures of my DBS, and well, really the only thing I have to offer in my employment area at HP id number.

Yep, I have photos of his car on my e-mail account. Maybe we could let him post some photos of it and then remove them after it's been proven to the admins. It's just a suggestion.

Quarter million dollar car is expensive.

As a poor person I drive:

'89 Toyota Hi-lux ghetto edition, nearly dead, 250k + miles

'98 Kia Sephia only 70k miles but somehow more of a piece of shit than the Toyota

'78 Chevy C-10 picked this up for $600, body has some rust but otherwise not bad for the price.

Whoa buddy. Don't feel bad! Those are all very fine and durable cars. Someone I know has a '78 Chevy, and It's been through hell and back and is still running fine.

It took me a shit load of paychecks, and living off coupons (I still do because of the damn gas guzzing engine). The only reason I like it is It gets me where I need to go in style. Not to sound like a snob, but my philosophy is you only live once, so you might as well make the best of it.

Oh, I agree. Nothing snobby about appreciating the finer things or being able to partake of them. I believe I would pimp out a bad-ass motor home tho :P Custom made... by me..... mmmmmmmmmmm.

I've always been like that. When I was just starting to drive at (15 or 16 years old) I had my eyes set on a benz. But I never got it, and just stuck with my Chrysler 300 for awhile.

I mean not just the finer things in life, but also living it to the fullest. It may cost a little extra, but hey we all have jobs for a reason don't we?

You should create a Wannabango like Quagmire's in family guy.

And it should also function as a boat. Boaterhome! YES!

I don't have a car. Not even a driver's license.
How is that possible? I live in continental Europe, where we have something called "public transportation". Also, bicycles.

I love the trains in Europe.

Unfortunately, oh smug one, the layout of this country pretty much prevents reasonably priced public transportation. In cities, it exists, and lots of people in large cities don't own cars, or rarely use them if they do. However, the cities in Europe were built up in times where the fastest mode of transportation was a horse if you managed to have one, and even if you did you didn't ride it to just go to the market. Most of America was built up when horse-drawn carts were far more common, wagon designs were allowing cross-country travel, steam engines were coming into their prime, and the automobile was just around the corner. Because there were much faster modes of transportation available, there wasn't a need to build things within easy walking distance the way it is in Europe. At this point, it's just not feasible. It's no one's fault, it's not because we don't like it, it's not because we're...I dunno, "lesser." It's just a product of the times during which the country was formed.

A hatchback Mazda 6 Sport Elegance, got it used for fairly cheap.

Too bad the anti-corrosion treatment on the bottom was weak, had to apply a new layer to it. The weather here gets really rough during winter.

I drive a crimson red 1986 Lada 2105. :P No servo (parking is hell with 1.5 tons of steel without it), no airbags, no backseat seatbelts etc. but at least it runs.
INB4 I know I'm a poor Ossie bastard.

Formerly, a '94 Toyota Camry station wagon. Now, a 2011 Honda Civic or my wife's '92 Nissan Maxima. Sadly, the Camry is a deathtrap (basically a powertrain contained within cracked glass, shorted wires and crumpled sheet metal) and the Maxima is slowly dying. It gets ten miles to the gallon, more or less... more less, I think.

As for the Camry, anyone want to buy a ton and a half of scrap metal? Nobody seems to want it for the parts.

It's also because of cultural factors prizing "independence" and social atomization, manifested in personal car ownership and a decline in interest in public transportation among those who weren't forced to use it.

As for bicycles... I'd love to ride a bike (I work close to home) but unfortunately there's nowhere to lock up my bike that it for sure won't get stolen, and there's no room for it inside the apartment.

Glevna - I love power-assist everything, and I know how horrifying it is to suddenly lose it all (steering, braking, engine power) while cresting a hill on a winding road with no shoulder at 65mph.
