Topic: A Formal Apology and an explanation

Posted under General

This is for all the users who were wondering about all of those HP images uploaded here.

An administrator here contacted me about a donation to e621. In response, I told them that I could personally handle monetary donations, but anything technical would be on behalf of my employing company: you guessed it, HP. The said Administrator agreed, and I mentioned it at one of our meetings. As some of you may have read, HP doesn't have anything against material on ANY site, so the request was approved and an evaluation began.

As part of evaluation, I had to upload images branded with the HP logo. Why ponies though? A joint partnership between HP, Hasbro, and Discovery Broadcasting. Watermarked images were approved, branded images were (are) in consideration. All of these are planned to go on a Children's educational laptop designed for girls.

Yes, a majority of the images come from independent artists, some of of our own design. I don't personally think it's right, but IF we can find the artist and their information, we ask permission, thank them, and in most cases even send them a monetary thank you donation. If you'll pay close attention to detail, you'll notice that the images were somewhat sharper and had darker blacks and whiter whites.

The images were uploaded to test user's reactions to HP material appearing on the site, let alone being run by its products. Was it the best method of evaluation? No, but there really wasn't another way unless people preferred to see ads for printers and computers at every turn. Basically, if people replied with "Oh HP sucks, I'll never buy one of their products." or "Go die and burn evaluator (me)" It earned e621 a negative mark and a failing grade. Since it was my idea, it was part of my JOB. I couldn't just turn around and stop evaluation (uploading), otherwise I could've been demoted or LOST MY JOB.

Anyway, I'm really sorry for ALL the inconveniences it cost anyone and everyone on here. Thank you all.

Wasn't really an inconvenience. Just kind of strange.

For something strange, it seemed to make a lot of people mad. You have any idea how many times I got told to GTFO or go to Hell?

Yes.

Probably because there were a lot of reposts.

So wait.

HP, Hasbro, and Discovery had a hand in an ad campaign targetting a furry porn site?

Fuck man. I love you for making this happen.

PS. HP is trash.

But seriously, why couldn't they have just bought stupid printer banner ads? I hope another company tries this on FA or something. An entire major company runs an ad campaign basically trolling furry sites? Pure win. Pure win.

A lot of them violated the rules too... Don't forget that.

First of all, no. I don't think I said anything about an ad campaign. This was a sponsorship that I had been asked to try to fulfill and it was to be between e621 and HP only. Hasbro and Discovery had nothing to do with this.

Secondly, if I wanted to “troll” anyone, I could have just said that I had found the perfect site for us to expand to... If you get what I mean. I hold a very powerful position sir, I just don't abuse my power. On top of that, I PERSONALLY tried to get this thing going between us. Besides, I think e621 is a pretty cool site anyway.

[/quote]Like I said, sorry. I was just doing my job as I was told to do. (Not to sound rude or snobby) But you have your job, and I have mine.

You mean to tell me that HP, manufacturer of printers and printer accessories, wanted its professional name associated with a repository of some of the vilest furry porn to ever see the light of day? And you were going to accomplish this using a username that already has porn posted from it? Was the plan here to market HP printers directly to people who wanted to look at naughty images of Sonic the Hedgehog and Snoopy? That seems like an extremely high-risk/low-return plan to me.

It seems like the sort of move that would get someone terminated very quickly.

The Communist Party works for HP. Capitalism wins I guess.

I'd like to thank you for attempting to secure support for this site, and understand that you were stuck within methods set down by others, over which you had no real control.

Once you come up with a more believable story maybe I'll believe you (but probably not).

Out of curiosity, were any of those edits made with the original artists' permission?

Look, if any of you are skeptic I will give you a number that leads right to my office space. No receptionist, no monitors, no tricks, just the cold number to my office and proof.

Thank You for your maturity! I really had no control in this matter other than to A. Terminate the program if administrators failed to respond, and B. Be the evaluator. That's it. I'm an executive supervisor, and in that case there are two departments ahead of me. Affairs, and the board. Now class, can anyone guess which one assisted and gave me the forms and other materials?

I really do think e621 is a great site. Yeah, I've had some arguments with a few asshole users, but that's everywhere. I also really did want to get something set up.

Nope, not wanted. You ever heard of a site called "Youjizz" or "Pornhub"? For a time, a few ads were upped there and then they went down. Yet the site stills runs off of some proliants. You get the gist of where I'm going with this? The fact is that we're a gambling company, on top of that there are 2000 of the world's most powerful and influential companies we are 35 if that tells you anything. Put two and two together and you find we have more than a few resources to handle our problems.

You think I'm the first one that's brought or seen porn up? Oh, HELL no. As our wonderful meeting head once said, "These people watch porn anyway, might as well be on one of our products?" Porn, any and all of it mind you, is a very popular and successful industry. As a matter of fact, it pulls in more money for my home state than anything. Not a bad industry to poke around with.

Finally, you think I'm the only one that has uploaded or viewed porn in the comfort of his own home? One of my friends and business partners... that crazy bastard has a paheal account that he constantly tells me about for reasons unknown, and I KNOW there are other employees here that watch it. I try to be friends with everyone in the building for Christ's sake. Seems like the only ones who DON'T have anything to do with it are the board, CEO, and some of the higher management.

Actually yes. I believe that two of them were, the rest (the whole project in general) is a fairly new one. So, we're still trying to find out who some of the artists are. I would give you the information that we have on the two that we used, but I've since sent the folder back to graphics design. If you really want to know I can run and get them :)

On top of that, how about a scan of my diploma, a scan of my "Valuable Employee Award", and a little souvenir "Proof of position of employment paper"?

Yep. I think they're outrageous, but it's about the same you'd pay for a Dell cartridge. Sometimes it all depends on where you get it from locally, but I don't really think the hardasses in pricing care.

All the proof you offer is non-verifiable. It only goes back to you.

I have a plan here. It is quite obvious that you don't like me, and I don't like you. So, I'm going to leave this board alone and go about my business here and at home. Now, you can believe that I don't work for HP and that is fine, you really do have to see to believe, and I can understand the skepticism. I really can. Sometimes I think that this whole idea was crazier than Hell anyway. I knew it was going to fail, and why the fuck I went ahead with it I will never know. Anyway...

You have a fine day sir.

I find it a little disturbing and quite hard to believe that a major company like HP would authorize art theft. I've sent a note to EvilArticFox about it though, maybe he can clear some of this up.

It would be nice if you could add a source for the pics, or at least add the artists' names on your posts. It doesn't really benefit them if no one knows they did the pics.

The_Communist_Party isn't affiliated with HP.

Because The_Communist_Party is actually Mark Hurd.

The furry community in general isn't very intelligent, gracious, or kind, or at least their comments aren't.
