Topic: Audio Ads?

Posted under General

I don't know if you guys have any control of the ads that appear on e621, but lately we've been noticing random sounds coming out of nowhere. Random music or audio commercials that don't seem to originate from anywhere on the page. Closing the offending page makes it stop.

It's not likely a virus or malware as it only happens on e621 and it's not just me. How many of you have noticed this, and is it possible to get rid of it?

'Tis Freaky.

They need to moderate these ads, remove the ones with sound. Do you know how hard it is to get your fap on to cheery music and a lady talking about Lysol?

Like I said, I'm not the only one. I just updated 2 days ago and I have zone-alarm. Like I said, it's not my computer. It just happens at random on this website.

You cant moderate those ads, they are coming from who knows where. The only thing you can do is desable flash plug in. Or get zone alarm pro. Try opera 10, since i have it i havent seen any of those sound ads.

it's an advertisement. Those ads help pay for part of the large cost of running e621.

Without them, we wouldn't be able to afford it.

Or we could do like Gelbooru and take screencaps of those ads and PM them to admins so they can talk the advertising company into replacing them with more silent ads.
Just an idea.

Those are fake ads. The ones that infiltrate your pc if your fire wall sucks. Or if you use fire fox or internet explorer. Try opera 10.

I'm sorry, but you're talking out of your ass. They're just noisy flash ads, that's all.

Those ads steal your credit card number and shit. Probably loto shit and stuff. I know what am i talking. Your ads have porn on them these ads have "YOU WON!", "Click to claim!", "You are the 0294350234023 visitor" And so on. Those ads have ring noises. And you get them cuz you are not protected enought. They replace the real ads, that were suposed to be there, with fake ones.

Again, no. You're completely and utterly wrong.

Those are legitimate, if shady, ads.

Ok man, what ever.

Ads can be noisy or whatever, but for sure no one sane will put malware there because ads provider will lose confidence.

Anyways, is it possible contact whoever is rotating ads on e621 to... em... switch em to silent once?

If there's nothing you can do about it server-side, that's all I wanted to know. Just thought I'd bring it up to see if it was easily avoidable or dangerous.

Just for the record, though, there is no pop-up that comes along with it and it isn't synchronized with any of the ads on the site. It's like an invisible radio just suddenly kicks in and you hear an audio ad.

Thanks for the response.

Wait.. Sorry... I thought you hear ring noise with spam ads... I missunderstood you... Sorry :(
And also sorry Arcturus, my bad...

Anonym try encreasing the security level on your firewall and browser. Try avast, it has a good ad blocker.
