i'm new-ish on here and completly rubish with the way these sites talk and i need a few questions answered in a language i can understand !

1)what is a troll / what does trolling mean ?
2)what does furry mean ?

can't think of anythink else but i will soon, thanks !

1. A troll is a person who deliberately tries to upset someone, usually in an overtly offensive manner.
2. A "furry" is a person who likes pictures of humanoids with animalistic features. "Furry art" refers to pictures of said humanoids. post #30118 sums it up quite nicely.

A troll is a person who thinks it's funny to upset people, and does so for their own entertainment.

Honestly, most people act as a troll sometime or another. It seems to be pretty natural. Even I've acted as a troll sometimes I suppose.

It's particularly problematic though, when a person's singular interest is in upsetting as many people as possible. Stuff like that causes people to get banned.

thanks ppl, im a legal age and have been interseted in furry pictures for a while but i wasn't sure about the meaning of furry and i never heard the word troll before, im not that new to being a furry, its been about 2 years since i found this sacred home for us. thanks if i have any more questions i will post them here !

On a serious note: To avoid hardships in your life, it would be best to avoid telling people you're interested in furry art within the real world. By keeping quite, you may not encounter more adamant examples of trolls. But, should you speak up, you will encounter trolls en masse, and while the vast majority will be weak-sauce, a better knowledge of what a troll is doesn't improve your ability to avoid them, just ignore them.

Anyone would tell you that this is NOT the correct thing to do.. if people ask, be honest... but don't shove it in people's faces like it's something important. It's a fandom.. not a lifestyle...

I couldn't help but facepalm, in an effort to stop laughing mid-read on namaste's post. I pictured a guy wearing a furry-suit and carrying a bloody machete, as a reason no one tells him anything.

I'm not blaming the fandom for getting the troll-reaction. That's why they're trolls. If they had a valid REASON to voice up against furries, then it wouldn't be trolling. It's sorta like people speaking out strongly against paedophilia. It's just not a good thing, so it's not trolling to bitch/whine/yell at those who make paedophilia their thing to enjoy.

I've been a non-attending member of the furry community for a good 12 years. No need to dress up, have animal ears/tail, fuzzy underwear... whatever it is that goes beyond the "I enjoy this" mentality. Fanatics bring out the worst in everything. Though that makes me wonder if there's a Troll-Con, where people get together to bitch at each other. Oh yeah! Congress!

well, i do admit trolls will troll for lulz, but here's the thing, yes, furries are prime target for real trolls because of how easily they get their ego bruised, but90% of the time i see a "troll" being called out, it's because they don't see eye to eye with the "victim" so they immediately pull the troll card, or when they don't heavily sugar coat something the person doesn't want to hear.

I still think there's a bit of confusion here. I've been around long enough before the terms to watch them grow and develop. A Lulz-Troll is the one that targets because they see how easy someone gets butt hurt over a subject, i.e., "easily bruised ego". To me, the real troll is one that just absolutely hates furries because furries are different.

The real trolls are the rare individual that would threaten violence in person, not just online. A real troll is a bigot, an asinine individual that refuses to have anything other than how they see things and is vocal to it to the point of disrupting the normal flow of everything else. They don't care if the target gives in, or if they bruise easy. They have their blind statement and don't shut up.

The worst things to do with either troll is to say anything back unless you're a mod. When a mod sets them off, it's hilarious because you never hear from them again. Lulz-trolls are happy and smiling to get a response to their actions, so they keep at it. Real trolls are just adamant that they're right and so shutting them up with logic doesn't work. Just gotta block them out.

I felt sorry for EK. I enjoyed his style, though not always the content, even if the content was cute and cuddly. My opinion on the matter isn't/wasn't required. The fact that some people feel they're entitled to state their opinion, as "free speech", they become trolls and remain that way until they grow up.

actually i see it backwards, i know of "trolls" that hate furries, hell a good friend of mine hates furries with a passion, but otherwise they're pretty cool people. i don't blame them either, but from what i have derived from the general behavior of the furry population that i have personally met, us furries tend to be very annoying, very stupid, and/or very flamboyant in a bad way. of course, theres pretty cool furries, but those are few and far in between.

And for every one that's forward about being a furry without being asked, there's one that is forward IF asked, and at least 3 that don't answer that they are. So just because your selection is small to go by, doesn't mean it's wrong, just a very narrow sample.

I'll always live by my "If it doesn't hurt someone else, it won't bother me" standpoint, and I wish others could but it won't happen.
