Topic: Satoru Iwata, CEO of Nintendo, has Sadly Passed Away at 55.

Posted under General

I just recently found out about his passing, and it completely caught me off guard.

I can't quite say I'm in tears because of his passing, but I can definitely say that I'm feeling a bit melancholy about it. I can't imagine who could possibly succeed him, or how Nintendo as a whole is presently feeling, or what Nintendo in general will do now.

I know he was having health issues and surgery, but 55 isn't an age to go.

What.

This can't be real. ;~;

We all know it had to have been Reggie that called in the hit. He just couldn't take that loss in Smash. It's also a widely known fact that the Japanese are immortals who only appear to become younger looking as time passes. Just look at Sakurai.

But seriously though, this is sad news. :(

Yeah, found out recently as well. Surprising, he was not old really. Despite anything that went on, he was always funny or likable from what he showed us. Even without being all that attached, it just leaves me with a hard to reason with feeling of sadness and a little anger. Likely since it was too early.

Bah . . .

Rest in peace.

Wonder how long until some idiot comes in to complain about Nintendo in a thread about someone's death . . .

As a side note:

He was either putting on a brave face for people or complications happened =/

He kind of went out like Steve Jobs, now that I think about it.

50's, lost weight, cancer...

I know it from my mother having it happen. You never truly know if you beat cancer, it can come back.

For Iwata it is hard to say, but they were painting a cautiously optimistic picture before this =/

Dude looks so young :C

He helped make my childhood a happy one.

Yeah, for those who are feeling it from this news, it seems both those thoughts are crossing people's minds . . .

I just heard not to long ago. I generally disagreed with his business decisions and wanted him to leave Nintendo, but not like this. Cancer sucks. All it takes if for a few cells to go full retard and then there goes everything. :/

He needed that 1up but it moved to the left too fast.

I think a lot of people will agree with me when I say this. Ever since I first found out about his passing, I was definitely shocked. But I was never really sad. If anything I'm happy! It's given me a chance to look back at all his accomplishments and works through the years and remenisce on his life. Pinball (NES), Balloon Fight, Kirby, Earthbound/MOTHER, Metroid Prime... Funny thing is, I've recently gotten into an Earthbound kick after finishing Earthbound Beginnings for the first time. Most of all, I'll miss seeing him in Nintendo directs from now on.

The game world, and most of all, Nintendo will never be the same without him. Wherever you are Iwata, I thank you for everything: directly!

Though I definitely am saddened personally, I can see what you mean.

I've felt sorry for making fun of Super Mario Land for its short levels and lack of Tanooki-related flight all day :[
